Oceania Regatta Review

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

We just toured the Regatta and it was a wonderful day.   First, we were sent to the Horizon Lounge which is on Deck 10.  It’s absolutely the most beautiful and comfortable Observation Lounge ever!   Sofas and chairs have large colorful pillows, sheer drapes adorn the windows and there is a combo and dance floor.

The specialty restaurants, Toscana and Polo Grill are on the same deck and they both offer their own bar area and luxurious seating with fabulous menus….no extra charge of course.  In between the restaurants is the largest library I’ve seen on any size ship and also the most inviting.  It was like an English Manor drawing room, with bookcases and books piled upon tables, a central fireplace with sofas and love seats, again with comfy pillows propped everywhere…wanted to stay there,

The Lobby area is stunning with its double staircase in wrought iron and gold, carpeted in red and black.  Surrounding the area are oversized chairs and sofas inviting you to sit and chat.  When you ascend the grand staircase, feeling as if  you’re in “Gone With the Wind”, you enter the Upper Hall which has  boutiques, a beautiful Grand Bar and a very inviting Martini’s Bar and a very small casino.  Forward is the lounge which also has a dance floor.  There is a wonderful feel of casual elegance all over the ship.  Aft is the Grand Dining Room which is also lovely and we enjoyed a multi course delicious lunch with white glove service.   The cuisine on Oceania Cruises is considered one of the very best at sea.

I would certainly wholeheartedly recommend Oceania to all but the under 40 set as there are not a lot of different venues as offered by the larger ships.

Oceania Cruises runs wonderful promotions throughout the year including 2 for 1 rates, free airfare and more.  Call us at 800-942-3301 for more details on the latest Oceania Cruise deals.

    Enhanced Prisendam Ready for Debut

    Friday, January 29th, 2010

The Holland America ms Prinsendam now boasts 22 luxurious new staterooms – that means more verandah sales opportunities for you! Retaining her elegant intimacy, the Prinsendam is able to dock at smaller ports and cruise through channels too small for many premium ships to enter.

The addition of new aft staterooms allowed an expansion of the pool deck with more deck chairs for guests, as well as a new sea-view bar. Sixteen of the new staterooms are deluxe verandahs, while two are slightly smaller verandahs, and four are inside staterooms. Each new stateroom features elegant bathrooms and redesigned closet space. Amenities feature Mariner Dream beds, 250-count linens, Elemis spa amenities, flat-panel televisions and DVD players, and much more. While still offering its distinctive intimate cruise experience, guest capacity increases from 793 to 837.

Call 800-942-3301 to take advantage of Holland America’s View and Verandah Sale.

Celebration Cruise Line Moves to Port of Palm Beach

    Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

If you live in South Florida, you are sure to have heard the commercials airing on the local channels for Celebration Cruises.  Celebration Cruise Line has 1 ship currently sailing out of Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. The ship will move to it’s new home in the port of Palm Beach on March 2, 2010.

Celebration Cruise Line would be the first multi-day cruises to sail from the Port of Palm Beach since the Palm Beach Princess in 1996.  The cruise line will offer 2, 4 and 6 night cruise package in conjunction with the Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort.

The ship was originally built in 1981, and was refurbished in 2009.  There are 3 dining rooms onboard (American, Brazilian style steakhouse and buffet and an Italian restaurant) all included in the cruise fare.  There is also a specialty restaurant called The Cove which cost $25 pp.  There are two pools, a casino, two-story night club, spa, gym and kids clubs.

A typical two-day cruise would leave Port of Palm Beach at 6 p.m. and dock at Grand Bahamas Island the next morning.  Passengers would have the day to spend on the island.  The ship would depart at 6 p.m. and arrive back in Palm Beach the next day. Four- and six-night packages would include three- and four-night stays at the Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort.

Cabin choices included an “oceanview coach” which has a a porthole window and bunk beds, an oceanview cabin  with a picture window and standard queen bed (some also have pull downs to accommodate 4,) a club suite and a deluxe suite.

The 680-foot ship must pass a maneuverability test set for Sunday morning before the deal is finalized, but no problems are anticipated.

    NCL Epic Headed to Europe

    Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

In a surprising move, Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that the Epic will sail in the Caribbean in 2010, but rather than sail the Caribbean year round, the ship will head to Europe in May 2011 and spend the season there through October.   The ship will sail a seven-day Western Mediterranean itinerary from Barcelona, Spain from May through October 2011.  Ports of call include: Florence/Pisa (Livorno); Rome (Civitavecchia); Naples, Italy; and Palma, Majorca, Spain, along with two full days at sea.   Fares for Norwegian Epic’s Mediterranean itinerary are from $699 per person. The ship will then return to the Caribbean for 23 seven day cruises from November 5th, 2011 through April 7, 2012.

Bookings for the NCL Epic 2011 and 2012 cruises are open to NCL past passenger on January 27th, 2010, and to the general public the next day.

This is the first time I have scene the trend reverse. With the slower economy, several cruise lines were leaving ships close to home, so this is a good sign that companies are banking on growth in oversees travel.  I can report that our company has seen a 45% increase in sales to Europe over past 3 weeks.  We attribute much of that to great 2 for 1 airline promotions and aggressive early booking discounts offered by tours operators such as Globus tours, Trafalgar tours and Insight Vacations.
