Holland America Line Launches Extensive NEW mariner society loyalty program
Special Savings & Exclusive Amenities Available to Repeat Guests
For those who have sailed even just once with Holland America Line, there’s now more to enjoy on future cruises. The new Mariner Society Rewards Program provides past guests with exciting new benefits from generous onboard discounts while sailing and special rates on select cruises to reduced or free third and fourth rates when booking future cruises. Benefits are tiered and vary based on a guest’s cruise history.
“We wanted to create a program that gives our loyal Mariner members fantastic perks, cruise values and enhances that sense of pride they feel after having sailed on several cruises with Holland America Line,” said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs. “We have one of the highest repeat guest ratios in the cruise industry and our loyal guests deserve the valuable benefits in our new Mariner Society Rewards Program.”
The Mariner Society Rewards Program offers a four-level progressive membership with a wide range of cruise and on-board savings and extra values. All guests who sail with Holland America Line are automatically welcomed into the Mariner Society where they receive special offers on upcoming cruises as well as advance information about new ships and the latest product enhancements.
Based on past cruises recorded as cruise days, members now enjoy Star memberships with four different levels offering an ever-widening range of cruise options and enhancements. Guests automatically collect additional “cruise days” or cruise day credits based on their onboard spending or through the purchase of one of the premium line’s suite options. Ah yes, it pays to buy up and get more!
Star Mariner
Guests who complete their initial cruise with Holland America Line are automatically enrolled in the Mariner Society’s first level, earning cruise days towards future cruises and an exclusive collectable gift. Among the features of Star Mariner status: special offers on select sailings, 50 percent discount for third and fourth guests on select sailings, hosted sailings with Holland America Line Ambassadors, a relaxing Welcome Back Embarkation Brunch on future cruises, a subscription to the Mariner Magazine and a Mariner Champagne Brunch on future cruises.
Two-Star Mariner
After 30 cruise day credits earned, Two-Star guests receive all the amenities of a Star Mariner plus shopping discounts, featuring 15 percent off merchandise purchased from ShopHollandAmerica.com and 10 percent off logo apparel items onboard in the gift shops. Two-Star Mariners also will receive a complimentary ship photo and be sent an exclusive annual cruise planner and special recognition pin.
Three –Star Mariner
With 75 cruise days earned, Three-Star guests automatically are given all Two-Star amenities plus generous new discounts including 10 percent off on select spa treatments; a 25 percent discount on all wine packages, mini-bar purchases, Explorations Café drinks and alternative restaurant surcharges; special advanced notice of new itineraries; and a waiver of air deviation fees.
Four-Star Mariner
At the top of the tiers, with 200 cruise days earned, Four-Star guests enjoy the benefits of all Star levels below and the bonus of free fare for third and fourth guests on select sailings; complimentary wine tasting and laundry/pressing; a 50 percent discount on all wine packages, mini-bar purchases, Explorations Café drinks and alternative restaurant surcharges; a 15 percent discount on logo apparel items onboard in the gift shops; priority tender service and check-in; priority shore excursion pre-booking; and a free subscription to Food and Wine magazine or Travel and Leisure magazine.

 Holland America Line guests who purchase Cancellation Protection Plan (CPP) can cancel their cruise for any reason whatsoever to receive a refund of up to 90 percent of the cruise fare paid. Two variations of the plan allow cancellation of a cruise up to 24 hours prior to the cruise or cruisetour departure for Standard CPP and right up to departure for CPP Platinum.
For most sailings, Holland America Line’s standard cancellation policy allows guests to cancel in writing without penalty up to 76 days prior to the departure date.
Two Levels of Cancellation Protection
Standard CPP reimburses 80% of eligible amounts paid for cancellations for any reason up to 24 hours prior to the cruise or cruisetour departure. Plus, the plan provides an additional $500 liability (for a total of $600) for lost, damaged or delayed baggage.
CPP Platinum features a 90% refund upon cancellation for any reason prior to departure. Other benefits for the expanded plan are increased baggage protection for lost or damaged luggage up to $1,600 total, delayed baggage coverage up to $1,100, trip interruption protection if a guest must return home unexpectedly and trip delay coverage.
Medical coverage under the plan provides for emergency medical expenses for illness or injury first occurring during the voyage, emergency medical evacuation and 24-hour emergency hotline assistance for legal, passport, cash transfer, medical and documentation assistance.
Both plans are available to U.S. and Canadian residents and must be purchased at the time of deposit. The cost varies by cruise fare and is non-refundable. For example, CPP pricing for a guest paying up to $1,000 per person for a seven-day Caribbean cruise would be $79 for Standard CPP and $99 for CPP Platinum.
Holland America Line’s fleet of 14 ships offers nearly 500 cruises to 320 ports in more than 100 countries, territories or dependencies. Two- to 108-day itineraries visit all seven continents, and highlights include Antarctica, South America, Australia/New Zealand and Asia voyages; a Grand World Voyage; and popular sailings to ports in the Caribbean, Alaska, Mexico, Canada/New England, Europe and Panama Canal. A 15th ship, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, is scheduled to join the fleet in 2010.

As with many cruise line, Holland America Lines have always offered a ship board credit to clients that place a deposit for a future cruise, while sailing on any of their ships.
Clients sailing this August, will be eligible for up to $400 in Shipboard Credit per stateroom when they book and deposit select destinations with a Future Cruise Consultant onboard.
The select sailings include all 2009/2010 Panama Canal cruises that do a full transit of the canal, 2010 Europe including all Transatlantic, 2010 Alaska CruiseTours (not cruises), 2009 Grand Australia, 2010 Grand World Voyage and Grand Voyages & segments there of. (Grand Voyages will receive $100 p/p Inside/Outside, $150 p/p Veranda and $200 p/p Deluxe. This is in addition to our current amenity packages & reduction from Atlas Cruises & Tours.
Make sure & speak to a cruise consultant while you are onboard, and then let us know upon your return, so we can give you the additional reductions. Keep in mind that if you are not ready to choose a cruise right away, you can still take advantage of Holland’s great offer. Just purchase a Future Cruise Deposit. It will be added to your Mariner Society number and will be automatically applied to a future Holland America booking.

 Last Friday, the ms Veendam returned to Ft. Lauderdale from her month long dry-dock undergoing the Signature of Excellence II Enhancements.
I must share first that she looks spectacular! You can sell this ship with the utmost of confidence that Holland America Line’s Premium Five Star product is everywhere an eye can see!

Ø 38 new Lanai staterooms – incredibly beautiful and spacious! My new favorite cabin category except for suites of course.

 In searching Google, I found that there were only a few websites offering a selection of pictures on Holland America’s new ship the Eurodam, and we had several clients interested in booking, so I was on a mission!
Our BDM was able to schedule a self-guided ship tour & luncheon onboard the ship last weekend. My overall impression of the ship was that Holland America found a way to appeal to their current demographic, as well as to younger passengers who will enjoy the added dining options, private cabanas, culinary arts center and more.
Now back to pictures! I must warn you, I was very thorough, taking almost 300 pictures of the Eurodam in a couple of hours! In retrospect, perhaps I went “overboard,” but it’s safe to say that you can get a great feel on what the Eurodam has to offer.
