NCL Epic Headed to Europe

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

In a surprising move, Norwegian Cruise Line announced today that the Epic will sail in the Caribbean in 2010, but rather than sail the Caribbean year round, the ship will head to Europe in May 2011 and spend the season there through October.   The ship will sail a seven-day Western Mediterranean itinerary from Barcelona, Spain from May through October 2011.  Ports of call include: Florence/Pisa (Livorno); Rome (Civitavecchia); Naples, Italy; and Palma, Majorca, Spain, along with two full days at sea.   Fares for Norwegian Epic’s Mediterranean itinerary are from $699 per person. The ship will then return to the Caribbean for 23 seven day cruises from November 5th, 2011 through April 7, 2012.

Bookings for the NCL Epic 2011 and 2012 cruises are open to NCL past passenger on January 27th, 2010, and to the general public the next day.

This is the first time I have scene the trend reverse. With the slower economy, several cruise lines were leaving ships close to home, so this is a good sign that companies are banking on growth in oversees travel.  I can report that our company has seen a 45% increase in sales to Europe over past 3 weeks.  We attribute much of that to great 2 for 1 airline promotions and aggressive early booking discounts offered by tours operators such as Globus tours, Trafalgar tours and Insight Vacations.

Celebrate Vacation Independence This July Fourth With A Freestyle Cruise On Pride Of America

Norwegian Cruise Line is the only line to offer inter-island cruises to all four main islands in Hawai`i

Miami   -    Jun 29, 2009   —

Travelers can declare their vacation independence this summer with a Freestyle Cruising experience aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America, the only U.S.-flagged ship to offer seven-day Hawai’i inter-island cruises to all four main islands. With more than 100 hours of port time, guests have the opportunity to explore active volcanoes, lush canyons and endless beaches.

Pride of America sails seven-day Hawai’i inter-Island cruises year-round, departing every Saturday round-trip from Honolulu with overnight stops in Kahului, Maui and Nãwiliwili, Kaua’i; and a day in Kona, Hawai’i. Cruises are from $829 per person, based on double occupancy.
Brad Huffines of Huntsville, Alabama, who recently sailed on Pride of America with his wife and three-year old son, remarked on what a wonderful experience they had.

“Our cruise was incredible. It was easily the friendliest and most responsive cruise line staff I have ever experienced. This is a cruise everyone should put on the top of their travel to do lists,” said Huffines. “I recommend Pride of America to any and everyone as it easily matched the best cruse experience we have ever had. Perfect ship, perfect staff and perfect ports of call.”
Pride of America features the innovative attributes of Norwegian’s Freestyle Cruising with a star spangled line up of eight culinary options, dynamic public rooms such as the Hollywood Theater, the expansive Rascal’s Kids Center and the luxurious Santa Fe Spa & Fitness Center. The heart of the ship, the Capitol Atrium, is inspired by the Capitol Building and White House and features a decorative stone floor, impressive water feature and a stunning backlit glass dome.
The cornerstone of Freestyle Cruising is Norwegian’s Freestyle Dining program, especially convenient for families with small children who like to eat early or even families with older children who can appreciate the flexibility of open seating and variety of restaurants. In addition, Pride of America offers seven lounges and bars including the Mardi Gras Cabaret Lounge the ship’s nightclub, the Napa Wine Bar, Pink’s Champagne & Cigar Bar, John Adams Coffee Bar, Gold Rush Pub and the outdoor pool bars, Ocean Drive Bar, Key West Bar & Grill and the Waikiki Bar.
Pride of America offers an extensive choice of cabins highlighted by an expansive Grand Suite, a broad range of family accommodations with more than 250 staterooms that interconnect, more than 660 balcony staterooms, as well as Family Suites, accommodating up to eight people.

The ship features the latest in relaxation and fitness facilities with the Santa Fe Spa and Fitness Center. The spa is a tranquil area making use of natural elements such as stone and wood and offers an exotic menu of spa and beauty treatments combining the best of East and West. The spa also features invigorating saunas and a steam room and a relaxation area. The fitness center boasts state-of-the-art exercise equipment and cardiovascular machines, each with their own flat screen TV, an aerobics room offering high/low impact aerobics, yoga, power walking and spinning classes.

The Sports Deck includes a basketball and volleyball court. The large South Beach sunning and swimming area is inspired by Miami’s Art Deco district and features some novel distractions including a gyroscope and bungee trampoline, and activities capturing the energy and fun of Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road.

The ship is particularly family-friendly and features the Rascal’s Kids Center and Kid’s Pool, a supervised facility for children designed around a theme of native animals of America. Norwegian’s Kid’s Crew program in Hawai`i features a plethora of supervised activities for youths aged 2-17. While parents take advantage of Norwegian’s on-board amenities such as spa facilities, casinos, or a cozy dinner, the children are enjoying games, parties, scavenger hunts, pajama parties and much more.

To help travelers sample the colorful culture and see the dramatic scenery in each port of call, Norwegian offers an extensive Shore Excursion program including more than 125 tours and activities. In O’ahu on the famous Waikiki Beach, guests can “hang loose” and watch surfers vie for the perfect wave in the shadow of the majestic Diamond Head. On “the Magic Isle” also known as Maui, guests can discover whale-filled seas, relax on heavenly beaches, snorkel in crystal-clear waters or play golf on world-class greens. The spirit and energy of creation surround Hawai’i’s Big Island Hilo where guests can have the opportunity to see flowing, red lava and even walk on cooled lava on the Kilauea Lava Viewing Adventure. The island of discovery known as Kaua’i has a lush, rural feel and a laid-back lifestyle. On Kaua’i, guests should not miss the Tubing the Ditch Expedition which offers guests an exclusive experience on private lands tubing historic waterways along the tropical flumes and ditches of the old Lihue Plantation, which were engineered and hand dug in 1912. The cruise also features a sail by Kaua’i’s rugged and breathtaking Na Pali Coast.

Norwegian Cruise Line Epic

Friday, May 1st, 2009

It is clear that the Norwegian Cruise Line Epic is going to be an amazing ship. Fans of Freestyle dining cannot wait to sail on the Epic.

Today I want to talk about the nightlife onboard the Epic.

The Ice Bar:

There are ony 14 ice bars in the world and only one at sea. In Epic’s Ice Bar, just about everything is made of ice – the bar, seats, tables and glasses. A faux fur coat and vodka helps you stay warm in a 17 degree room. Lights simulate the Northern Lights by changing to blue, green, and purple on each of the latest techno beats.

Posh Beach Club:

Imagine being at South Beach and the Riveria at the same time, with VIP bottle service, gaming tables, and dancing under the stars. Well there’s only one way to get there, by taking a private glass elevator to the exclusive open-air nightclub.

Spice H2O

By day a Latin and Asian flavored beach club. Then at night, it’s transformed into the dance floor and you’ll be dancing the night away with Latin beats and live entertainment.

The Epic Club

For guests staying in The Villas, The Epic Club is an exclusive lounge that lives up to its name with contemporary, upscale design and elaborate artwork on display.  A stylish and elegant club.

Norwegian Cruise Line Swine Flu Update

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Posted: Tues, 28 Apr 2009  7 p.m.
Author: Norwegian Cruise Line
Category: Travel Advisory | Press Release

The health and well-being of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance to Norwegian Cruise Line. Accordingly, the company is closely monitoring the health advisories regarding the current Swine Influenza (Swine Flu) situation.

As a precautionary measure due to the recent travel advisory relating to Mexico, the company is cancelling Norwegian Pearl’s final two calls in Mexico on its current repositioning cruise. The stops were scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 29 and Friday, May 1, 2009. Apart from this sailing, Norwegian Cruise Line’s scheduled deployment does not include any other ports of call in Mexico until the end of September 2009.

Norwegian Cruise Line has stringent protocols for cleaning and sanitation on all of its vessels to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. In addition, the company is taking proactive precautionary measures to protect its valued guests, including, but not limited to, fleet-wide guest screening via a health questionnaire prior to embarkation and on-board education regarding Swine Flu symptoms and preventative actions. As a result, the company does not anticipate that its guests’ cruise experience will be impacted.

Furthermore, Norwegian Cruise Line’s on-board medical centers are stocking an appropriate amount of the anti-viral medication used to treat the illness, in the unlikely event the need for its use becomes necessary.

Any further updates will be posted to ncl.com. For information on swine influenza, visit the CDC’s web site at www.cdc.gov

NCL Epic Cruise Ship

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

nclepicbalconyfromdoorThe 4,200 passenger NCL Epic is scheduled to sail year round in the Caribbean from Miami, beginning in the summer of 2010. The ship will alternate between Eastern & Western Caribbean sailings through April 2011. NCL will open Norwegian Epic’s sailings for group block bookings exclusively for travel agencies in mid-March 2009, and for individual bookings shortly thereafter.

The ship’s Western Caribbean itinerary includes stops in Costa Maya, Mexico; Roatán, Bay Islands, Honduras; and Cozumel, Mexico. Norwegian Epic’s Eastern Caribbean itinerary includes stops in Philipsburg, St. Maarten; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and Nassau, Bahamas.

Norwegian Epic represents the next generation of Freestyle Cruising – a ship that incorporates a wide range of new features and amenities, including curved New Wave staterooms and unique nightlife options. To date, the company has revealed five unique nightlife venues that rival the experiences of Las Vegas, Ibiza, the Riviera and South Beach. The five venues include the industry’s first true Ice Bar; POSH Beach Club, a first of its kind beach club at sea that offers an exclusive, adults-only setting at the top of the ship; Halo, the Über Bar, a private bar and lounge in the ship-within-a-ship villa complex; Bliss Ultra Lounge, NCL’s all-day entertainment and nightclub complex with four-lane bowling alley; and Spice H20, an adults-only aft pool deck experience.

In addition, the ship will feature the New Wave standard, New Wave balcony and New Wave deluxe staterooms that represent a giant leap forward in cruise ship accommodations with a completely fresh take on bathroom design, contemporary curved architecture and open living space. The New Wave stateroom’s most distinctive design element is its curved walls and lines creating a modern and chic experience. NCL has maximized the living space with a bathroom that is completely unique with a separate shower stall, separate water closet and a modern vanity top sink. The staterooms feature a sophisticated earth-tone palette accented with a splash of color and rich, dark wood. Concealed contour LED lighting and back-lit domed ceilings set a relaxing vibe.
