Today we are boarding the World’s Largest Cruise Ship – the Oasis of the Seas to take some of the first pictures of this unbelievable ship. Much to our surprise, Rihanna will be performing tonight as the first entertainer to sing in the ship’s open air AquaTheatre. Smart move on the pop star’s part, as all eyes and news media are on the Oasis of the Seas including Good Morning America, and Rihanna is set to release her 4th album, Rate R on November 23rd.

Since this post written on November 2nd, we are happy to report that we were sailing onboard the Oasis of the Seas this morning, and got some great shots of the Good Morning America anchor Sam Champion and celebrity correspondent Melissa Rycroft, as well as amazing pictures and video of the entire ship. In the picture to the left, they are both in the AquaTheatre.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL® TEAMS UP WITH ABC’S “GOOD MORNING AMERICA” TO BRING VIEWERS FIRST GLIMPSE OF THE OASIS OF THE SEAS!
Set your TIVO! Royal Caribbean will unveil their newest and most innovative cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas. ABC’s “Good Morning America” will be there to welcome Oasis of the Seas into her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fl and give viewers an exclusive first glimpse of the highly anticipated ship during a special live broadcast.
GMA fans across the country can tune in on Friday, November 20th, 2009 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. (EST) on ABC to join “Good Morning America” for a never-before-seen sneak peek at the seven distinct neighborhoods and many spectacular elements and features Onboard the Oasis of the Seas. Some of these unique features include Central park, the first park at sea with nearly 12,000 plants and trees; Boardwalk, a family oriented environment with a hand carved carousel; a thrilling zip wire ride that races diagonally over Boardwalk 90 feet above the deck; 28 multilevel loft suites boasting floor-to-ceiling windows; and the Aqua Theatre – an amphitheatre style space that serves as a pool by day and a dazzling oceanfront theatre at night.
But wait! My husband and I will be on the Oasis of the Seas November 19th, and plan to upload photos and videos that day, (as long as the Wifi connection is works,) so I hope to have lots for the public to see even before this Good Morning America broadcast. Following is an overview of the new shopping options guests can take advantage of while onboard Oasis of the Seas:
Central Park
•Coach – Located in the Central Park neighborhood, Coach is one of the most exciting additions to the retail lineup on Oasis of the Seas. Coach will debut its largest location at sea with an assortment of chic handbags and accessories, allowing shoppers to appreciate the variety, detail and quality of the Coach offering while getting an overview of the company’s lifestyle approach. To celebrate the grand opening, Coach will offer a special gift with purchase – an exclusive leather luggage tag in luxe parchment, embossed with the iconic horse and carriage logo in gold.
The Royal Promenade
•Prince & Greene – With a trendy fashion boutique vibe, Prince & Green offers urban apparel and accessories for men and women alike, all with an electric urban edge. Labels include Betsey Johnson, Calypso and Kenneth Cole for women and Fred Perry, Ed Hardy, Marc Jacobs and Ben Sherman for men.
•Regalia – Regalia is one of Oasis’ most opulent boutiques. Home to some of the most iconic names in fine jewelry and timepieces, Regalia brands include Tag Heuer, Roberto Coin, Pianegonda, Olivia and more.
•Solera – Oasis of the Seas is home to two duty-free stores along The Royal Promenade, with Solera existing as the official go-to retail store for guests’ cosmetics, skincare and fragrance needs. Featured brands include Chanel, Dior, La Prairie, Lancome, Shiseido, as well as cutting-edge “doctor-brand” regimens.
•Willow – In contrast to the high-fashion finds at Prince & Green, Willow features casual sportswear for guests, ideally suited to the cruising lifestyle. Natural linen and organic clothing options for men and women are offered, as well as brands including Eileen Fisher, JMP, and Forest & Fauna. Willow also will offer products from the World of Good line whose proceeds benefit non-profit organizations around the world, as well as socially responsible artisans. The store also will feature ethnically sourced gifts and products that are supported by the World of Good organization.
Boardwalk
•Candy Beach – A boardwalk isn’t complete without a candy shop. And Candy Beach is the ultimate candy store, offering more than 72 varieties of candy for mixing and matching. Vintage candy treats from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s are also available.
•Carousel Cart – The hand-carved carousel onboard Oasis is undoubtedly one of the most unique features on the ship. After paying the carousel a visit, guests can browse the selection of apparel, accessories and souvenirs that celebrate this nostalgic pastime and popular Oasis attraction.
•Pinwheels – Younger cruisers can head to Pinwheels to find a range of clothing and accessories for children of all ages. Kid-favored brands such as Crayola as well as Royal Caribbean merchandise in tyke sizes are all offered. Pinwheels also hosts a play area equipped with LEGO stations and a number of other popular games for children.
•Star Pier – Star Pier is a hybrid of all things tweens and teens adore. From clothing labels including Roxy, Quiksilver, and DC Apparel to an electronic games and accessories outpost alive with a DJ station and Wii game area, this is not the average teen clothing store.
The Pool and Sports Zone
•Breeze – An open-air shop located on the pool deck, Breeze is conveniently stocked with all the fun-in-the-sun must haves that make for a perfect lazy, or not-so-lazy, day in the sun. Light reads, sunglasses, tote bags, and sun care products are all offered here.

Royal Caribbean International today announced an itinerary change to 16 Western Caribbean sailings of Oasis of the Seas, the cruise line’s highly anticipated cruise ship to begin service in December 2009. From May through November 2010, Oasis of the Seas will call at Mexico’s port of Costa Maya, instead of the originally planned call at Falmouth, Jamaica. Oasis of the Seas’ Western Caribbean itinerary also will include calls at Cozumel, Mexico, and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach paradise on the northern coast of Haiti.
“We look forward to bringing Oasis of the Seas to the well-established destination of Costa Maya in 2010,” said Craig Milan, senior vice president of Land Operations, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. “We continue to look forward to calling at Falmouth on a regular basis with Oasis of the Seas and her sister ship Allure of the Seas. The completion of the port is going to take longer than we had hoped, but Falmouth will be outstanding when it is completed.”
On the modified itineraries, Oasis of the Seas will dock at Costa Maya’s recently restored pier, providing guests easy access to shore without tendering. In Costa Maya, guests have a wide variety of shore excursion options, which can help make a memorable day in port. For example, guests can choose a sailing along the virgin coast of Costa Maya before diving in search of undersea life on Catamaran Sail & Snorkel; enjoy the natural beauty and magic of hidden Mexico atop an all terrain vehicle before stopping to relax on a secluded beach on ATV Jungle & Beach Adventure; or explore the virtually unexcavated Chacchoben Mayan ruins in the jungle near the Belizean border on the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins.
Oasis of the Seas will alternate its Western Caribbean itinerary with an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, which will include calls at St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Nassau, Bahamas. The ship is now scheduled to resume the original Western Caribbean itinerary and make its maiden call at the historic port of Falmouth during the ship’s December 11, 2010 sailing.

The Youth Zone takes family vacationing to a new level! Due to launch November, 2009, the Oasis of the Seas just released information on the Youth Zone. The area will be over 28,700 sq. ft. & will include a Kid’s Avenue, a central boulevard connecting themed areas, a nursery & state of the art teen area. The Royal Babies & Tot’s nursery will be the first ship to take children 6+ months & up. RCI will have a fully staffed nursery where children can be left in the care of trained professionals. They will also host play groups by Fischer Price & Crayola.
Themed areas will include new workshops for families to learn jewelry making and scrapbooking. Another notable addition is the Adventure Ocean Theater. It will have a stage, audience seating and state-of-the-art production equipment. The theatre will offer a venue for theatre productions, talent shows and hip-hop dance classes.
The teen only spaces will include a “mocktail” bar & the Scratch DJ Academy, as well as teen-only programs found on other ships including Fuel Disco & The Living Room.
