I just came back from sailing onboard the Oasis of the Seas today. I have been fortunate enough to preview a lot of ships over the years, but never have I seen so much media presence and excitement among those on-board. Crews and TV personalities from several shows including Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight were there to capture the world’s largest cruise ship. Rihanna performed a live concert in the Opal Theater for VIP guests and contest winners.
In the coming weeks we will be writing several blogs – one for each of the seven neighborhoods onboard the ship, giving you important details about dining, entertainment and more, as well as providing you video of each neighborhood, so that you can see the ship first hand.
For today, I merely wanted to share my overall impression of the Oasis of the Seas. Although I realize that this size ship is not for everyone, Royal Caribbean achieved their vision of creating a personal experience for each cruiser. Guests can stroll bustling boulevards and entertainment districts, lounge around the pool or relax in a tree filled park. The ship is organized in such a way, that each neighborhood seems to transport you to a new destination. I applaud Royal Caribbean for their innovation!
The Oasis of the Seas arrived into Port Everglades this morning at 8 a.m. Here are some photos of the ship pulling into the port area.
Make sure and check our blog, Flickr and You Tube accounts for more images of the ship. As we mentioned in previous posts, November 19th, we will be able to upload images of the interior of the Oasis of the Seas. We can’t wait to share them with you!
Make plans now to wash away your winter blues on the sparkling shores of the Caribbean. These delightful islands will keep you happily occupied with a range of invigorating activities such as snorkeling over teeming reefs or diving to ancient shipwrecks. On shore, you can trek the rainforests, wander through local markets, sip your favorite beverage in a sidewalk care or simply relax on a secluded beach. Aboard the ship, your cares will become distant memories with amazing cuisine, a spectrum of entertainment and soothing spa treatments.
With new ships like the Celebrity Solstice, Equinox or the Oasis of the Seas, even the ship is a destination in itself! Since this post written on November 2nd, we are happy to report that we were sailing onboard the Oasis of the Seas this morning, and got some great shots of the Good Morning America anchor Sam Champion and celebrity correspondent Melissa Rycroft, as well as amazing pictures and video of the entire ship. In the picture to the left, they are both in the AquaTheatre.
We hope to have a video up on the Atlas YouTube channel by tomorrow. In the meantime you can view our video of the Oasis of the Seas arriving into Pt. Everglades last week. Update written 11/20
