Celebrity Cruises 2010…New year. New look. New brand platform. Celebrity Cruises kicked off 2010 – and its 20th anniversary – announcing all this and more at a special event last night at Manhattan’s Museum of Arts & Design. The cruise line is launching a new brand platform: ‘Designed for You’.”

The introduction of Designed for You – pairing Celebrity’s cruises commitment to stunningly-designed ships and innovative onboard experiences with its commitment to impeccable guest service – marks the culmination of an extensive, six-month exploration into more deeply understanding the needs of discerning cruisers. The process included an in-depth market research survey of nearly 10,000 international cruisers, numerous focus group sessions with past guests and travel partners, in-home interviews with some of Celebrity’s frequent guests and prospects, and exhaustive reviews of cruisers’ needs, attitudes and behaviors. All these efforts, combined with Celebrity’s 20 years of focusing on guest needs, helped the brand create the ultimate combination of ship design, service, cuisine and programs for cruise lovers.

“We’ve always been committed to identifying and designing what our guests want, and the awards our brand continues to receive are welcome validation that it’s working,” said Hanrahan. “Our new Celebrity Life onboard experiences – inspired by our guests’ interest in more widely varied onboard programming – are netting consistently high marks from our guests, as are the enhancements we’ve made to our Captain’s Club loyalty program, built to suit what our members wanted most. But, the greatest validation has been the response to our stunning Solstice Class.”

    Strength in numbers: $3.7-billion investment

Celebrity’s five-ship Solstice Class fleet represents an investment of $3.7-billion – the largest newbuild commitment for a single brand in industry history – offering modern cruising “firsts,” including The Lawn Club; The Hot Glass Show; AquaClass; the industry’s first application of solar technology, and stylish staterooms whose design was influenced by a panel of women with unique travel and hospitality insights.

“Solsticize it:” Celebrity’s Millennium Class to receive Solstice Class features

“Through our Designed for You platform, we plan to leverage our Solstice Class ships’ stylish, modern design and ambience even further,” said Hanrahan, revealing that Celebrity plans to incorporate iconic Solstice Class attributes across the fleet, most notably through a significant revitalization of all four Millennium Class ships. Celebrity Constellation will be the first to receive the new enhancements during scheduled drydock in April of this year.

Among the Solstice Class features to be introduced on the Millennium Class ships:

    • More opportunities to relish Celebrity’s world-class cuisine with the addition of Tuscan Grille, the Napa Valley-meets-Italian-steakhouse venue found on Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox
    • Bistro on Five, the vibrant, popular creperie introduced on Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox
    • A Solstice Class-inspired, ice-topped Martini Bar paired with Crush, whose ice-filled table presents a selection of chilled, top-tier vodkas
    • The cool Cafe al Bacio and Gelateria, replacing the former Cova Cafe
    • As introduced on the Solstice Class, an Enomatic wine bar, the state-of-the-art, Italian designed wine serving system allowing guests to select and serve, at the touch of a button, the wines of their choice by the glass
    • More sumptuous suites, on a par with those in the most modern hotels in Europe, with all new furniture, flat-screen TVs, upholstery, bedding and carpeting
    • Restyled staterooms, with entirely new carpeting, flat-screen TVs, upholstery and bedding
    • New color schemes, carpeting and upholstery reflective of Solstice Class in every public venue, from the Celebrity Theater to Seaside Grill, from the main dining room to Michael’s Club

The revitalization is just part of Celebrity’s full Designed for You platform, which – when combined with the brand’s Celebrity Life onboard experience, more robust, well-received Captain’s Club, and multiple other brand enhancements- represents a nearly $200-million investment.

The beauty of Celebrity’s Solstice Class also takes center stage in the brand’s new ad campaign, with dramatic, distinctive images, a modern, contemporary graphic treatment, a copy voice promoting the brand’s differentiating elements, and the tagline, Designed for You. Marking a first for Celebrity, a hip new video shot on Celebrity Solstice to capture the essence of the Celebrity cruise experience will run on multiple travel, video, social, lifestyle and news sites. Print ads will appear in trade and consumer magazines and major daily newspapers across North America.

“We’ve studied where cruise enthusiasts go to research options for their next vacation, and more than 70 percent go online,” said Hanrahan. “So, we’ll have a big presence there, on some of cruisers’ favorite sites, to allow them to briefly and virtually immerse themselves in a vacation experience designed for them.”

Celebrity’s new Designed for You brand platform, revitalization program and ad campaign are only part of the investment the line is making to continue to offer the best in premium cruising, said Hanrahan, adding, “All this is part of a total package, including our robust, new Celebrity Life enrichment and entertainment programming; our enhanced Captain’s Club loyalty program; museum-quality contemporary art collections; our industry-first ConciergeClass accommodations across the fleet and, on the Solstice Class fleet, AquaClass; and guest-inspired partnerships with Riedel Crystal, Rosetta Stone, Smithsonian Journeys and, on the Solstice Class fleet, The Corning Museum of Glass.”

Celebrity Cruise Wine Tasting with Riedel Crystal

    Sunday, August 30th, 2009

You sit at the table, several glasses of wine arrayed before you. As you lift the first to your lips, you pause, deeply inhaling the perfume that emanates from deep inside. A sip yields more than wine…it communicated a complex story of grapes, soil, climate and passion. Fifty years ago, Claus Riedel was the first to understand that the wineglass was not just the teller of that story, but an integral part. Now, thanks to the Riedel Comparative Wineglass Workshop, a collaboration between Riedel and Celebrity Cruises, guests of Celebrity can gain insight into the role a wineglass plays in revealing all aspects of wine.

The program, the first of its kind to be offered by a cruise line, is based on the premise that each vintage is a living, breathing entity, embodying a complex set of characteristics. Riedel Crystal, long acknowledged as one of the world’s foremost producers of fine crystal, stumbled upon the degree to which the size and shape of their wine glasses emphasized the harmony among these attributes quite by accident. But once they realized how their different styles of crystal could impact different vintages and varietals, they began to do some serious research, eventually fine-tuning specific collections to enhance that magic interplay among the senses. And now, certified and specially trained by Riedel professional, Celebrity’s Cellarmasters and Sommeliers conduct a fascinating workshop that demonstrates the profound effect wineglasses have on the perception of wine.

Introduced last year, the Riedel Comparative Wineglass Workshop has proven to be one of the most popular enrichment programs onboard. Riedel Wineglass Workshop is $87 pp and includes a set of 4 Riedel Vinum Series glasses, a $116 value.

Celebrity has various other wine program during each cruise. Guests new to wine can partake in a Wine Appreciation program, Celebrity’s version of Wine 101, which introduces 5 different styles.

Celebrity also offers a Walk Around the World program, in which Sommeliers unearth the secret of 12 vintages from different regions around the world. For those who like to combine the pleasures of fine dining and fine wine, the Connoisseurs dinner, which is hosted by on of Celebrity’s Cellarmasters, features a 5-course meals, each course paired with a specially selected vintage from their extensive wine cellars.

Celebrity Cruise Line Press Release: Celebrity Cruise News

Redefining the onboard experience to create lasting memories for guests

MIAMI, July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Life has always been good on a Celebrity Cruises vacation, and today, the brand announced a new program that will make it even better.

Celebrity Cruises today announced “Celebrity Life,” a new series of palate-pleasing, intellectually-enriching and life-enhancing programs designed to deliver the most unique and sophisticated onboard experience in premium cruising.

Built on long-established pillars of the Celebrity brand – dining, enrichment, and wellness – Celebrity Life encompasses three distinct program categories: “Savor,” “Discover,” and “Renew.”

“Celebrity Cruises has always been committed to offering the best vacation experience for discerning travelers,” said Celebrity Cruises Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. “Celebrity Life will provide our guests with an array of experiences they will remember long after they sail with us, thanks to the delivery and dedication of our spectacular crew across the fleet.”

“Savor” takes an already stellar culinary experience to new heights, with eight new wine enrichment events, six spirits and mixology tastings, and more than seven different interactive programs for guests, hosted by the ship’s Executive Chef and team.

“Discover” presents an opportunity for guests to do or learn what they have always wanted to try, but never had time to accomplish. Whether it’s ordering a bottle of Chianti in Italian, or exploring the universe in 40 minutes, guests can delve into a wide variety of interests.

“Renew” offers an improved, more goal-oriented approach to classes, seminars, and treatments designed to help guests on their journey to looking younger, feeling better and living longer.

    SAVOR THE MOMENT

Shaped by the line’s award-winning chef, restaurateur and Vice President of Culinary Operations Jacques Van Staden, the Savor series will encompass three programs centered around Celebrity Cruises’ industry-leading food and beverage programming: “Celebrity Vineyards,” “Signature Spirits” and “Food as Art.”

The “Celebrity Vineyards” wine enrichment program, developed in partnership with the United States Sommelier Association, will feature a host of immersive wine events providing guests the opportunity to expand their understanding and appreciation of the fascinating world of wine. Among the varied activities are the comparative wine workshops Celebrity introduced in 2007, sanctioned by the renowned Riedel Crystal.

Celebrity’s “Signature Spirits” events will help unleash guests’ “inner mixologist” as they explore the modern world of spirits and cocktails during exclusive “Mixology 101″ workshops developed in partnership with Bacardi. The Signature Spirits events also will offer the opportunity to experience the industry’s first “Molecular Mixology” workshop developed by “The Liquid Chef,” world-renowned Master Mixologist Junior Merino.

Celebrity’s immersive “Food as Art” culinary arts program also includes highly interactive and participatory cooking shows. Led by a variety of Celebrity’s shipboard chefs, the program allows guests to serve as sous chefs in “Star Chef Cooking Competitions,” and to participate in exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to watch the teams in Celebrity’s galleys actively preparing delectable desserts, fresh-baked breads and a seemingly endless array of entrees. The Food as Art program also will surprise and delight vacationers with a special lineup of guest chefs who will set sail with Celebrity over the course of the year.

    DANCE…DISCUSS. . .DISCOVER

A highlight of Celebrity Life’s “Discover” series is the opportunity to learn a new language through Celebrity’s industry-first alliance with Rosetta Stone(R). Through this new partnership, over the course of just one sailing, either self-taught or hosted, guests can gain a working knowledge of their choice from among 13 languages.

Celebrity’s “Beyond the Podium” enrichment series, as its name implies, will offer guests far more than the typical enrichment lecture. The series will be highlighted by the brand’s new association with Smithsonian Journeys, the educational travel program of the renowned Smithsonian Institution, which is the world’s largest museum complex and research organization. Guests on select sailings will have the opportunity to gain deep, new insight from Smithsonian Journeys’ globally recognized experts as they speak with Celebrity guests about a vast array of topics, including history, culture, art and architecture, and the natural environment.

Meanwhile, iPod addicts can learn new iTunes tips and tricks while onboard, and novice and experienced computer users alike can boost their technological prowess through Celebrity’s “digITal” series, with courses ranging from Photoshop and Windows XP primers, to BlackBerry tips and blog creation.

Stargazers will be inspired to stare skyward as they learn about astronomy, telescope tips, and even celestial navigation through Celebrity’s new alliance with Stargeezer, a program devoted to educating consumers about astronomy in user-friendly fashion. Celebrity guests also will be invited to gaze at the night skies out on deck during special stargazers’ parties and “star hunts” designed to identify the evening’s brightest constellations and planets.

Dance enthusiasts can share the stage with Celebrity’s own professional dancers during itinerary-influenced, interactive productions whose themes include “Sizzle,” “Groove,” “Decco,” and “Flava.” Additionally, in partnership with Skyy Vodka, Celebrity Solstice and Celebrity Equinox will present “Live @ Sky” in the two ships’ Sky Observation Lounge.

In addition to participating in cultural, world and ballroom dance classes, guests also will have the opportunity to compete in the “Everybody Dance” competition, culminating in a vote for “star” dance champions on every sailing.

To learn how to creatively preserve photos of their impressive new dance moves, or the picturesque places they visited during their cruise, guests can participate in Celebrity’s new courses offered through the line’s unique partnership with the StoryTellersClub, designed to guide guests through the process of creating valuable keepsakes of their cruise vacation memories.

    TO RENEW YOU

Celebrity Life’s new health and wellness program called “Renew” offers an expansion of spa and wellness services designed to help guests feel better, live longer, and look younger. Redefining the spa experience with an innovative range of beauty and wellness options for Celebrity guests, Renew offers three areas of enrichment within the program: “Ageless,” “Energy,” and “Longevity,” each with its own slate of treatment selections, seminars and workshops.

Guests can participate in motivating classes, a variety of seminars, and also experience results-driven spa or fitness treatments created for each series within the program.

Within the Ageless series are informative seminars focused on skin renewal and youth-enhancing lifestyle tips, in addition to medi-spa cosmetic services such as BOTOX(R) Cosmetic, Restylane(R) and Perlane(R), and a selection of anti-aging facials, including a 24-karat gold facial available on the fleet’s latest ship, Celebrity Equinox, to target fine lines and wrinkles.

To help promote self-awareness and healthier living long-term, the Energy series entails nutritional information, wellness assessments and realistic “Life” prescriptions that guests can incorporate into their lifestyle, plus body sculpting and strengthening options, including a “boot camp” course, indoor cycling, personal training, and gravity training classes.

Among the highlights of the Longevity series are seminars focused on stress management, lifestyle enhancements, and alternative healing systems such as Chinese medicine. The Longevity series also features complimentary consultations with the onboard acupuncturist, an array of acupuncture treatments to rebalance the mind and body, in addition to yoga, tai-chi and “fab abs” courses.

WHEN DOES CELEBRITY LIFE “GO LIVE?”

Following its rollout on the new Celebrity Equinox when the ship enters service July 31, the Celebrity Life program will be introduced across the balance of the fleet by the end of November.

“All of us at Celebrity are eager to introduce this new program to our guests,” said Lutoff-Perlo. “From pleasing palates to enriching intellects to enhancing day-to-day life, there’s something to suit every interest within our new Celebrity Life. And this is only the beginning. We look forward to introducing more surprises over the course of the year.”

Celebrity Cruise Line and the Swine Flu

    Monday, April 27th, 2009

    Posted : Mon, April 27th, 2009
    Author : Celebrity Cruise Line
Category : Travel Advisory | Press Release

We’ve been closely monitoring all developments regarding the Swine Flu, to help ensure the health and well-being of our guests and crew members.

Health authorities from a variety of nations are investigating the situation and we remain keenly attuned to their progress. We maintain close working relationships with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our industry association, and we’re working in close coordination with them.

It is important to note that health authorities have not raised concerns regarding the ports of call we visit in Mexico. None of our sailings have been altered and none are scheduled to be.

Our ships visiting Mexico are taking pro-active measures, such as:

Placing a notice in the daily, onboard newsletter to provide our guests with basic information regarding this matter.
Placing a letter, along with a fact sheet from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in each guest stateroom.
Providing hand sanitizers throughout the ship.
And, conducting enhanced sanitizing of all high-touch areas.

We’re also asking guests to follow the advice of medical experts regarding the best ways to help prevent flu and other illnesses:

Washing hands thoroughly with soap and hot water – often.
Covering the mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
Putting used tissues in waste baskets.
If tissues are not available, coughing or sneezing into upper sleeves, not one’s hands.

Like our guests, we take all health matters seriously and we’ll continue to closely follow all developments regarding the Swine Flu.

Additional information regarding Swine Flu is available at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website: www.cdc.gov
