Qantas Airlines announced that starting next month, they will be the first airline to offer in-flight iPads, which will be loaded with movies, shows, music and more, as a stand-in for standard in-flight entertainment options.
The airline will test consumer response during a 6 week period on Boeing 767-300 aircrafts, for overseas flights to and from Austalia. Qantas will offer an iPad for every passengers, as well as having several back ups onboard, meaning there will be more than 254 tablets when the trail aircraft takes off next month.
It’s a risk, as some travelers may be tempted to take the tablet with them, but the airline states that they will not function off of the aircraft. We’ll be interested to see if this makes it past the 6 week trial period.
