Free Inflight Wifi for the Holiday

Adding a little more “Happy” to the Holidays, Google Chrome has once again teamed up with three airlines to offer passengers Free Wifi with GoGo Inflight. Travelers flying Delta, Virgin America, and AirTran can now surf the internet for 30 minutes while using Google Chrome courtesy of eBay.  eBay shopping will be available for the duration of the flight. This offer is valid on flights through January 2, 2012.

With airline passengers being charged for things ranging from baggage fees to snacks, this is a nice additional perk available through the holidays. GoGo Free Wifi availability will be offered for the second time during the 2011-2012 holiday season. The normal charge for this service ranges from $4.95 for short flights (defined as less than 90 minutes) and $7.95 for long flights, and up to $11 when the service is to be used for the entire day. In addition, package deals are available to customers throughout the year, depending on how many sessions of internet service they would like to use in a given time period.

Being done as a token of appreciation for airline passengers, and users of Google Chrome web browser, the no charge Wifi will connect approximately 15 million passengers this year, on an estimated 700 planes.

Why offer the free internet? Not only to expose users to Google Chrome and gain loyalty, but it will also result in more clicks for Google Chrome advertisers.   It’s a win for all involved, and seems to be very much appreciated by airline passengers.

GoGo Free Wifi was offered for the first time in 2010, and was so overwhelmingly successful that it was brought back again for 2011. Having access to free GoGo Inflight Internet Service definitely helps passengers to weather those long cross country flights, and can help to make a short flight a lot more enjoyable.
