No matter what the reason is, when you’re in need of a romantic vacation destination in the United States, you couldn’t do much better than Aspen, Colorado. If you’re planning a couple’s trip sometime soon, Aspen is an ideal location with its fun activities, cozy hotels, and decadent restaurants, and it should definitely be on your list of spots to consider. Here are some places and activities to check out while you’re there.

  • Where to Stay  The Little Nell Hotel comes highly recommended if you’re looking for luxury. The hotel offers concierge service, personal oxygen dispensers in the mini-bar, and countless other amenities. The Little Nell has spacious and beautiful rooms, including nine suites and six specialty suites. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool, a hot tub, and a Health Club where guests can receive Swedish, deep tissue, or reflexology massages-for-two. Other romantic hotels in Aspen include the Viceroy Snowmass, which offers a fabulous 7,000 square foot spa, or the Sky Hotel that is located in a fantastic ski location and features a daily wine hour.
  • Where to Eat  The Little Nell is not only an excellent hotel, it is also features one of the best restaurants around. The restaurant has a 69-page wine list, and features dishes from well-known chef Ryan Hardy. The DishAspen is another great pick, known for special dishes like corn-battered fried lobster on a stick. A newer restaurant that has become popular very quickly is the Lulu Wilson, located in what used to be a mining cabin and was later the home of its namesake, a woman of the same name. This restaurant features specialties including oysters in champagne-chili sauce and vintage farm beef short ribs.
  • What to Do  If you want a really special treat for you and your sweetheart while in Aspen, contact the Above it All Balloon Company for a hot air balloon ride. Above it All will take you on an hour-long flight above the Elk Mountain Range, then treat you to a champagne brunch featuring mimosas, bagels, fresh fruit and chocolate covered strawberries, among other goodies. Honeymooning couples may enjoy the Aspen Cooking School, which offers a couple’s workshop on preparing a meal and learning how to pair it with wine. Of course, you get to enjoy the meal together when you’re finished.

Of course, you will certainly want to spend some time on the activities Aspen is known for, like hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing. And you won’t want to miss the chance to explore some of Aspen’s distinctive shops. There are more than enough things to do in Aspen to keep a couple busy for quite awhile.
