New Cruise Ships 2014

1012

It’s always fun to try something new, and several of the cruise lines are putting out new ships for 2014! New cruise ships offer the latest in greatest in amenities, and it’s nice to be able to say that you’ve done something that not many others have done yet. If you’re planning to cruise in 2014, here are some new cruise ships that you might consider checking out:

  • Norwegian Getaway  This new ship, which will debut in January and will start sailing in February, will be offering a week-long Eastern Caribbean itinerary departing from Miami. The ship will sail year-round. One whimsical feature of the ship is the hull art, designed by pop artist, David “LEBO” Le Batard, depicting a scene of mermaids and pelicans. There will be a new special-effects magic show called Illusionarium, and you’ll also be able to catch the Broadway show, Legally Blonde, while on board.

  • Avalon Waterways  This cruise line will be putting out two new ships in March 2014. Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression will both feature cabins with wall-to-wall panoramic windows. These will open seven feet and it will be like having your very own open-air balcony! Approximately half of the cabins on each ship will have these windows, so make sure that you ask when you book. Two months later, Avalon Illumination, another ship with these windows, will debut, along with new riverboat AmaSonata.

  • Tauck River Cruising   Tauck will be introducing the line’s fifth riverboat, MS Inspire, in March, and this one is designed with space in mind: The newest addition to the fleet will be nearly 25% larger than the other ships of the line, but it will add only 10% to the guest capacity. This means more room for everyone. In June, the cruise line’s sixth ship, MS Savor, will debut. This one has the same dimensions and capacity as the MS Inspire.

  • Regal Princess  Princess Cruises will be offering the Regal Princess, which is a sister ship to the Royal Princess, in June 2014. It will have many of the same amenities as the Royal Princess. Four out of every five cabins will have outdoor space, so this is a great ship to be on if you are looking for the ultimate in open-air cruising!

  • Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas  Royal Caribbean is adding new experiences to its next generation of ships, and Quantum of the Seas is the first of this new generation. Some of the activities will include bumper cars, skydiving and virtual balconies in interior rooms. There is also a new special amenity called North Star, which will allow you to enjoy views from a new, high vantage point above the ship.

With all of these new ships coming out next year (and more are planned for 2015, as well), cruising has never been so exciting and novel!
