Breast Cancer Awareness Month

1063

Around 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and about 40,000 of those women will die from it. During the month of October, many businesses are not only displaying pink ribbons to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many of them are coming up with creative ways to support this cause. Although competing in a race or doing a charity event is a great way to show your support, for those that aren’t able to make it, you can also simply buy products from some of the following retailers, or make a donation through their organizations to help raise funds for research and to help those affected by breast cancer.

Delta Airlines
Last year Delta painted an airplane pink. For every “like” they received on their Facebook page they donated a dollar to breast cancer research. During the month of October they will donate 100% of their in-flight sales of Minute Maid pink lemonade to this research as well.

Atlas Cruises & Tours
We will be donating $5 for every booking made in the month of October.

Lady Foot Locker
Lady Foot Locker has a variety of Limited Edition Awareness Collection items for sale throughout the month of October. A portion of the proceeds from these items will be donated to the American Cancer Society. For totes, string bracelets, socks and water bottles, $1 will be donated, $5 for t-shirts and $10 for fleece zip up jackets.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)
During the month of October the WWE changes the ropes on the wrestling ring to pink and white. They also put the symbol “Susan G. Komen” onto their stage. They are responsible for raising around a million dollars for the cause.

Avon
Avon has raised over $815 million dollars since 1992. The Avon Foundation has been able to raise this amount of money due to specific products that Avon sells where a percentage of the proceeds goes towards fighting breast cancer as well as their “Walk Around The World” events.  This money goes towards providing education about breast cancer as well as helping women get breast cancer screenings.

Estee Lauder
Evelyn H. Lauder, the Senior Corporate Vice Present of Estee Lauder, was a co-creater of the now famous Pink Ribbon Logo. The Estee Lauder Company helps in the fight against breast cancer by donating 20% of the proceeds that they get on the sale of some of their beauty products.

Ann Taylor
During the month of October, 90% of the proceeds from the purchase of the LOFT Cares card or the Ann Taylor Cares card gets donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Around $4 million dollars have been raised so far through this program.

Pantene
Pantene aims to help women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments like chemotherapy. They have donated more than 24,000 wigs made out of real hair for women with cancer.

Yoplait
From October 1 through November 15, some of Yoplait’s products will feature a pink lid that has a code on it that customers can redeem through April 1, 2015. For every lid donated, the Friends in the Fight program will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen.

Macy’s
Macy’s will donate 5% of the proceeds from both their Ideology t-shirts and Ideology cropped leggings to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Target
Target has made a commitment to encourage their team members and their loved ones get screened for breast cancer. They are doing this by providing education about this type of cancer and by sending a mammogram bus to certain locations throughout the United States.

You can also go to ShopKomen.com for a selection of merchandise where 15% of the purchase price is donated.

Many businesses are doing their part to help raise funds for breast cancer. Funds raised during these campaigns can help bring us one step closer to finding a much needed cure.
