Just because you are traveling during the holidays it doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice some holiday cheer. Many hotels get all decked out for Christmas in order for their guests to feel as if they are right at home. From Christmas trees, to lights, to giant reindeers, many of these hotels put forth a lot of effort in order to transform themselves into a winter wonderland.
The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans
This hotel is a breath of fresh air in a city that is known for outlandish parades and costumes. The Roosevelt Hotel is all decked out in Christmas trees, decorations and poinsettias during the holiday season. The large lobby is turned into a winter wonderland with birch branches that have been wrapped in lights, adorned from the ceiling. There’s also a gingerbread village that features Louisiana plantations. While at the hotel, guests can take part in storytelling, Teddy Bear Tea and even see Santa.
Boca Raton Resort & Club in Florida
This classy resort is all decked out for the holidays. There are over 600,000 lights on display throughout the 365 acre property. Guests are greeted with a 40-foot tree at the entrance of the hotel. Throughout the resort there are 40, fully decorated Christmas trees scattered around. Guests can take advantage of the pink ice skating rink, dinner with Santa and the holiday market.
Liberty Hotel in Boston
This hotel isn’t necessarily know for the amount of Christmas decorations it has, but the interesting way they display them. In the hotel’s 90 foot rotunda, there are 6 decorated Christmas trees that are hung, upside down, from the ceiling. In order to hang these trees, those who installed them had to hang from the ceiling’s rafters while wearing safety harnesses in order to install them.
Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas
It’s no surprise that the Bellagio has some outlandish Christmas decorations. It houses the largest indoor tree in Las Vegas, which stands at 42 feet tall. There are topiary polar bears that are made out of about 24,000 white carnations, a chocolate coated 8 foot tall reindeer and a large candy house. A favorite among visitors is the fountain that seems to dance along to holiday music.
Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville
The decorations at this resort are over the top for sure. Over 2 million Christmas lights are on display as well as a Frosty the Snowman themed ice sculpture. There are many different holiday themed activities that occur during the month of December, including the production of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular where spectators can get a glimpse of the famous Rockettes.
Having to stay at a hotel during the holidays isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it may just be the highlight of your trip with all of the outrageous decorations and fun holiday activities going on.
