Recently the Bahamas Celebration struck an object while sailing and because of the damage, had to discontinue cruises that went from the Port of Palm Beach to the Bahamas. Starting in February, a new company called Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, will be offering two day sailings to the Bahamas on the former Carnival ship, the Grand Celebration.
About The Grand Celebration
The Grand Celebration will be able to hold approximately 1,900 passengers. The ship was unveiled in 1987 and was Carnival’s Celebration vessel until 2008. It has five pools as well as 10 public decks. There’s also a casino, a handful of restaurants, lounges and a fitness center and spa. The ship has sailed in both the United States and in Europe.
Benefits Of Going On A Two Day Cruise
It may seem like a lot of preparation to go on a cruise that’s only two days. However there are some benefits to this very short trip, including:
Price. These cruises are at most usually a couple of hundred dollars which can allow travelers to go on a short getaway without spending a lot of money.
Convenience. Two night cruises are often offered several days a week. This means that if an individual finds themselves with a couple of days free they can book a two day cruise fairly easily even if it’s at the last minute.
Disadvantages To These Types of Cruises
Often times there are a lot of add-ons that are available with a two day cruise. What travelers have to remember is that with these types of cruises the rate pretty much only includes a couple of dining options and a few activities. Many times things like special shows and alcohol will need to be purchased. All of these little add-ons can add up quickly if you are not careful.
Despite the drawbacks of two night cruises, a trip on the Grand Celebration might be the best way to travel for those that are extremely busy or are just looking for a quick weekend trip. The ship will be sailing every other day of the week, just as the Bahamas Celebration did. Prices will start at about $149 per person for an interior cabin. For those that want an ocean view or suite, prices will vary. In the future the Grand Celebration may add cruises that are four to eight nights in length as well.
