How Drones May Change The Way We Travel

Many consider 2014 to be the year of the drones. This year we have seen drones in the news more now than ever before. Much of the talk having to do with them has focused on their ability to fly into tight quarters and to snap high quality pictures of people and objects. In the future drones might actually change the way that we travel as well.

Exploration of New Places
Drones may be able to provide a new look at places that were thought to be desolate or not a good place to travel. This is because they can provide never before seen footage of areas without a traveler or explorer having to set forth in that particular area. This can open up a whole new world for travelers as we learn about new places that might actually be great vacation spots even though that were once thought not to be.

Interesting Images
Anyone who’s seen footage from a drone can tell you that they provide quite interesting images. They are able to get up close, aerial views that just aren’t possible with a helicopter or plane. This allows for those in the travel industry to provide travelers with a unique prospective of an area where they would like to travel too. Drones may be able to provide more in depth pictures of a place than a photographer on the ground could.

Real Time Travel Updates
Things like natural disasters and automobile accidents happen sometimes and can disrupt a vacationer’s travel plans. In the future drones may allow travelers to keep up on developing conditions of a place that they are planning to travel too in a quicker, more accurate way than a webpage or their local news station. In particular this would be beneficial for travelers who are going to places that don’t have accurate news coverage or don’t provide updates to their roadways or city conditions that are readily available to people outside of their city. Knowing about unfavorable conditions would allow travelers to change their travel plans, even just a few hours before their trip, if needed to avoid a less than desirable experience.

As we roll into 2015 it will be interesting for us to see how much of an impact drones have on traveling. We will keep you up-to-date on any news that may be of interest to you when it comes to drones and your next vacation.
