Do you smell the salt water and feel the sun on your skin yet? Beach season is just about here. In order to have everything you need at the beach you have to pack the right stuff. Check out our top tips for packing the perfect bag so that you can enjoy the beach even more.
The Bag
In order to pack the perfect beach bag, you must start with finding the right one. It’s important to choose a bag that’s big enough for what you need and one that you won’t mind carrying. It should be stylish, but be able to hold things like wet towels or sandy items. Mesh or cotton bags tend to work well as they are versatile and dry fast. In addition to a large bag you should also have a small tote as well. The tote should easily fit inside of your beach bag and be a suitable place to store things like your cell phone and car keys. This will keep these tiny items from getting lost.
Sunscreen and Sunglasses
You have to protect your skin when you are at the beach. Sunscreen is a must and every beach bag should have it. Make sure you place your sunscreen in a sealable plastic bag before putting it in your beach bag. That way if it leaks a little bit or the top comes off of it you don’t have to worry about it getting all over your stuff. Also, don’t forget to pack a pair of sunglasses as you need to protect your eyes as well.
Snacks and Water
I don’t know about you, but when I spend a lot of time out in the sun I tend to get hungry and thirsty. Unfortunately most beaches do not have food items or drinks for sale so it’s important that you pack them in your beach bag. I tend to pack one bottle of water for every hour I plan on being at the beach. As far as snacks go it’s best to pack items that don’t need to be refrigerated or take up a lot of space like trail mix and protein bars.
Entertainment
As nice as the beach is you might find yourself wanting to occupy your mind while you soak up some rays. Pack a book or a crossword puzzle to provide some entertainment if need be. You might not use either one, but will appreciate that they are in there just in case you become bored.
Towels and Extra Clothes
Even if you don’t plan on swimming it’s a good idea to pack a towel and extra clothes. You might find yourself wanting to take a dip in the water and need a way to dry off later on. After you are finished at the beach it’s a good idea to change into dry clothes so don’t forget to pack some!
Plastic Bags
You are probably going to end up with a wet towel or trash from your snacks. Pack a plastic bag to put wet items and trash in. That way you won’t get your bag wet or messy and will have a convenient way to transport these items.
Don’t wait until the last minute to start packing the perfect beach bag. Make sure you have everything you need now so you don’t have to make any last minute runs to the store right before you head to the beach. Enjoy!
