Scariest Haunted Houses In America

1327

Forget the candy and silly looking pumpkins! How about chainsaws, zombie and lots of fake blood? Some Halloween attractions are geared more towards the adult crowd and aren’t for those that don’t like to be scared. If you are looking for an extreme thrill this Halloween, visit one of these scary haunted houses.

The 13th Gate In Baton Rogue, Louisiana

This 40,000 square feet haunted house is full of terror. Activities include having to crawl through a crematory oven, dealing with snakes and trying to navigate through pitch black tunnels underground. The special effects crew and makeup artists are Hollywood trained which adds to the realness of the experience.

The Scarehouse in Pittsburgh, PA

The Scarehouse has been called “one of America’s scariest Halloween attractions” by the Travel Channel. It takes place in a 100 year old building.  This haunted house offers 3 scares for the price of 1: “Krampus Come All Ye Fearful”, “Trick ‘r Treat Hallowed Grounds,” and ”The Summoning.” If you’re looking for something even more intense, try the 18-and-over Basement attraction, where you will be restrained, touched and terrified. Go to www.scarehouse.com for more information and hours of operation.

Blackout In New York

This haunted house is so scary that you have to sign a waiver before entering it. Not only is there a lot of horrifying activities, but there is “adult content” that’s not suitable for kids. Blackout is not for someone who is scared of tight spaces or doesn’t like to have physical contact with others. If the haunted house becomes too much to handle there is a safe word that participants can say if they want to leave. One of the most terrifying parts of this haunted house is that you have to do it by yourself so there is no one there to hold your hand when you are freaked out.

Cutting Edge In Fort Worth, Texas

One of the interesting things about this haunted house is that it takes an hour to walk through it which makes it the world’s longest walk through haunted house. Cutting Edge is centered around different horrific scenarios and guests having to deal with some phobias. If you are claustrophobic or scare easily then this is definitely not the haunted house for you.

McKamey Manor In San Diego

This full immersion, 21 and over only haunted house is probably the scariest one out there. Most people can’t even make it through the whole thing because of the extreme nature of it. Participants have been known to get their eyes and mouth duct taped shut and be put into a clothes dryer. There’s a lot of water, fake blood and screaming at McKamey Manor. As you can probably guess, participants do have to sign a waiver beforehand.

If you are into getting screamed out, scared out of your mind and being tortured, then one of these haunted houses will certainly satisfy your need for an extreme scare. If you do happen to visit one of the haunted houses mentioned above, be sure to tell us about it!
