Japan is full of a lot of amazing sights. Many of these sights can be seen via a day trip from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji. This trip consists of a bus ride, boat cruise and aerial tram. There’s no need to worry about transportation from place to place as all the little details are taken care of.
Mt. Fuji
The day starts at the Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal. Dependent on the trip you choose, transportation may be included from your hotel to the terminal. Once there, you will step on board a deluxe coach and travel about 2 ½ hours to the Mt. Fuji Visitor Center. The center has an array of information about the history of the mountain. There are also many exhibits to look at and even an observation deck on the second floor to get an up close glimpse of Mt. Fuji. The mountain is snowcapped several months out of the year and dependent on the time of travel and the visibility that day, onlookers may be able to get a good glimpse of it. Visitors will then get back on the bus and go up to Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station, which is located 7,545 feet up, or halfway up the mountain. Visitors can get a glimpse of some of the climbers that are trying to make the trek up the mountain, some of the lakes in the area, the tori gates and the shrine. They can also stop for lunch before they continue on their journey.
Hakone National Park and Lake Ashi
Next, visitors will go on a short drive to Hakone National Park where they will visit Lake Ashi. They will go on a short boat cruise around the lake to see many of the mountains surrounding it, including not only Mt. Fuji, but Mt. Komagatake as well. After getting off of the boat they will head up to the Mt. Komagatake Ropeway which consists of an aerial tram. The tram takes them to the top of the mountain. Visitors will then have time to walk around for a bit and take in some of the sights, including the Owakudani volcanic valley. Hakone National Park is most known for its hot springs and amazing views that it offers. Afterwards visitors will take an evening bullet train to get back to Tokyo.
The whole trip lasts around 11 hours. However, it doesn’t feel that long thanks to the many stops and the amazing views to enjoy from the bus. The best time to go on a day trip from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji is during the colder months because visibility tends to be very good.
