New Harmony of the Seas Unveils Tallest Slide at Sea

There’s no disputing the fact that Royal Caribbean has been bringing it in terms of innovation. In fact, while most cruise lines are barely making a dent with incorporating technology in their entertainment aboard their ships, RCCL is doing it in spades! From checking in at the pier to watch-like wristbands that open doors while serving as payment methods, Bionic Bars and tech-fused live shows that are absolutely JAW-DROPPING; to DJ Booths that drop from the ceiling, X-BOX ONE Pods, Sky Diving Simulators, and In-Door Bumper Cars, there’s no doubt they’re already light years away from the competition! Carnival may have more ships on the sea, but Royal Caribbean clearly owns all the rights, because their ships have taken over!

Well, just when you thought they couldn’t innovate any more than they already have, here they are introducing Harmony of the Seas, A HYBRID MEGA SHIP that’s a crossover between RCCL’s Quantum and Oasis Style Ships! In addition to inheriting Oasis’ neighborhoods & its overall massiveness, not to mention Quantum’s Tech-heavy venues, they’ve added monster slides that gives Wet ‘n Wild a run for its money! Not one, but TWO (2) MONSTER SLIDES called the Cyclone and the Typhoon. Not only will you crisscross through a ONE-OF-A-KIND 216 Foot Dual Slide, but the dueling slides tower 150 feet above sea level and DROPS 100 FEET FROM DECK 16 ALL THE WAY DOWN TO DECK 6!! Guests will most certainly hit speeds of up to 9 MPH, which may not seem like a lot in a car, but when you’re on a mat and nothing else, it’ll be a totally different proposition, trust me! Then there is the Ultimate Abyss, upon entering the ride, you’ll be sitting on a glass-bottom platform to remind you how high up you really are! This is a dry slide, where guests will shoot down 100 ft. vertically on a mat. The slide will have audio effects to create a multi-sensory experience.

Even though the attraction has been deemed an “all-age” attraction, based on the steepness, speed, and overall daunting structure, I feel this would be a medicinal favorite for the adrenaline junkie and not the run of the mill kid looking to have some old-fashioned fun!
