If you are like me, you like to get at least one souvenir when traveling as it serves as a reminder of the place I’ve been. The more I travel, the more I realize that there are just some souvenirs that money can’t buy. Despite all the souvenirs I have at home, the following types are the ones that I cherish the most.
Memories
When you think about souvenirs you probably don’t think about memories. However, one of the best souvenirs we can take with us are the memories of the places we’ve been. That’s why it’s important to live it up while you are in a new country. After all, you don’t know if you will ever get the opportunity to visit that particular destination again.
Experiences
The experiences you have while traveling serve as great souvenirs. These experiences can shape who you are and help you make memories that will last for a lifetime. Even vacation mishaps or excursions that you just weren’t sure about can turn into an experience that you will enjoy, or at least turn into something you can laugh about years down the road.
Learning Opportunities
One of the best things you can take away from a vacation is not the souvenir that you buy, but the learning opportunities you take part in. Everything from a museum, historical site or a tour of a city, can allow you to learn about a new culture or a place. These learning opportunities can never be taken away from you and you can actually share what you learned with others.
Bonding Moments
One of my favorite parts about going on vacation is bonding with my loved ones. Life is busy and fast paced and it can be hard to even sit down together as a family for dinner, let alone spend a few days of uninterrupted time together. When you go on a vacation, it’s easy for you to leave everything else behind and spend a lot of one on one time with your family. This creates a lot of opportunities to bond and reconnect with each other that you simply can’t do at home.
While buying souvenirs on vacations is fun, there are a lot of souvenirs that money just can’t buy. Going on vacation will give you the opportunity to hang out with your loved ones, learn new things, have a variety of exciting experiences and create memories that you can talk about for years to come. These kinds of souvenirs are absolutely priceless!
