Selfies let the world know that you are having a good time on vacation. It’s fun to share where you are at with your friends and family and they will leave you with lasting memories. One of the newest gadgets to hit the market are selfie sticks. Unfortunately, many places are banning them because they tend to be an annoyance to other travelers. You don’t need a selfie stick to take the perfect picture, however. Here are some tips to take the perfect travel selfie.
Utilize Gadgets
Even though you can’t use selfie sticks in a lot of places, you can use other gadgets to help you take the perfect selfie. A intervalometer plugs into your phone and takes a set amount of photos in seconds. You set the amount of photos you want to take and the amount of time in between shots. While some phones do have a timer for taking pictures, you generally have to set it every time you want to take a photo. This device remembers your settings. It also focuses the lens for you so you can take the perfect shot. You can also use a tripod for traveling. They are easy to fold and lightweight and the perfect item to pair with the intervalometer. Another neat gadget is called a LuMee Case. It features LED lights which allows you to illuminate your photos.
Apps
There are quite a few apps available to help you take a perfect travel selfie. They do everything from slimming you, to whitening your teeth and removing any imperfections. FaceTune is one of the more popular types of these apps as it has a lot of options. So if you take a selfie at a great destination, but don’t like the way you look in it, try out one of these apps instead of retaking the picture. Before going on vacation it’s best to try out an app first as you might not like the results and will need to download a few of them before you decide which one works best for you.
Practice
This may go without saying, but it’s important to practice taking selfies at home before going on vacation. This will help you determine your best side, what works for you as far as lighting goes and what angle you look best at. Don’t put the phone down low and take a picture up towards you, as this could lead to a double chin. Try to make sure you are looking across or up a bit. Don’t forget to look around you for amazing scenery.
Ask for Help
Don’t be shy – ask someone to take a picture for you.
While you are at your destination, don’t forget to actually stop and enjoy it. After you take a selfie or two, put the camera away and take it all in.
