It seems as if many of the cruise lines are adding more ships to their current fleets. With cruising being more popular than ever it’s no wonder that Princess Cruises will be debuting more ships in the very near future. Two new cruise ships will be added to its fleet in the next five years. They officially signed an agreement for these new ships last week and are being pretty hush hush about the new ships’ details so far. Here is the little bit that we do know about them.
About The Ships
These ships are expected to be completed in 2019 and 2020. They will have the capacity to carry around 3,560 passengers and around 80% of the staterooms will have balconies. Each ship will have features common to the Princess line, which include:
-The Enclave at the Lotus Spa
-Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar
-The Piazza
-The SeaWalk
-International Café
-Club 6
-Princess Theater
-Princess Live!
-Princess WaterColor Fantasy
While we don’t know yet what amenities, restaurants and entertainment will be available on these new ships, you can expect that a lot of the ones mentioned above will be present on future ships simply based on the popularity and feedback that has been received from past cruise guests. They will probably also be debuting some other amenities and experiences that have not been seen on a Princess ship before.
Current Ships And Itineraries
These ships will join its sister ships: the Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess. Each of the new ships will weigh about 143,700 tons and will bring the cruise line’s total ship count to 20. While we don’t know the destinations or itineraries for these ships just yet, Princess Cruises currently offers around 360 destinations with over 150 different itineraries. Many of these ships depart from Fort Lauderdale and Port Everglades.
Princess Cruises debuted in 1965 with just one ship that cruised to Mexico. They gained much popularity to not only the line, but to cruises in generally when its ship, the Pacific Princess was cast on the popular show “The Love Boat”. Today, around 1.7 million people sail on Princess Cruises each year. Cruises range from just three days to over 100 days. With the introduction of even more ships and itineraries, this cruise line will certainly continue to expand for years to come. We will update you with any information that we learn about these new ships.
