President’s Day is here and there’s still a bit of time to plan a last-minute vacation, how about trips inspired by presidents? If you want to teach your kids a little about history or just learn about past presidents yourself, there are several trips you can go on. These trips have a little bit of President’s Day inspiration behind them.

If you are looking to see what past presidents really looked like, head over to Madame Tussauds’. Their interactive exhibition features each of the presidents and significant moments in their history. They look so lifelike that you might just fool your kids into thinking that they are standing next to an actual person.

Old Town Alexandria In Virginia

This town is filled with a lot of history and historical sites like the Friendship Firehouse Museum. It’s also home to America’s largest President’s Day parade. It features things like musical performances, bands and even floats.

Ford’s Theatre & Museum In Washington D.C.

Older children can really get a lot out of their experience here. Since this site is where Lincoln’s assassination took place, there are several tours and educational exhibits surrounding it. There is even a virtual tour and videos online to help you prepare for your visit.

The National Constitution Center In Pennsylvania

There are many activities going on here over President’s Day weekend for all ages. There will be crafts and trivia games for kids. Actors will tell the stories of both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. There are also presidential artifacts and special tours of the museum. Many of the artifacts are quite rare like the popular jelly bean jar of Ronald Reagan. All activities are free with admission to the museum.

If you are looking to spend some time outdoors, head over to Alexandria to commemorate President’s Day. There will be special daily events with many of them honoring the life of George Washington. There are actors that dress up as past presidents and colonial figures that even stroll the gardens.

These huge carved sculptures are quite interesting to see and there’s even an interactive museum onsite as well.
