Due to hectic work schedules or lack of funds, we can’t always vacation when we want too. There is a lot to be said to get away from it all though, which is why you should allow for a way to change up your routine and to feel as if you are foregoing responsibilities and just relaxing. A staycation might be just what you need to feel as if you have gone on an extensive vacation. Just because you can’t actually travel, it doesn’t mean that you can’t feel like you are. Here are some things to do on a staycation that are travel related.

Visit A Museum
Many travelers go to a museum when they are in a new city. There’s a good chance that there’s a museum close by that you’ve never been too. During your staycation, visit some of these museums. Pretend like you’re a tourist. Take your time and visit each and every exhibit and walk around at a leisurely pace.

Check Out A Local Beach Or Pool
One of the highlights of a lot of vacations is going to a pool or beach. During your vacation visit either one, or even both. If you don’t know of a public pool nearby, call around some of your area hotels. Often times they will offer a day rate for locals to use some of their amenities. Even if you live in an area where it’s snowing you may be able to find a hotel with an indoor pool that will let you use it for the day.

Head Outdoors
Tourists love hiking and biking. Map out a trail to ride your bike or hike on. Even those that aren’t outdoorsy people can still appreciate the serenity of being outside away from all of the of the business of everyday life.

Go On A Day Cruise
You might be surprised to find that there is a day cruise near you. If you live near a body of water then there may be a cruise for you to enjoy. A lot of these cruises focus on eating a good meal and a few hours of sightseeing so they don’t require a huge time commitment. This makes it the perfect activity for a staycation.

Take In A Show
There’s a good chance that there’s a theater of some sort where you live. A staycation is the perfect excuse to take in a show. Watch something that you normally wouldn’t as you just might find that you discover something new that you enjoy.

Shop For Souvenirs
When you are on vacation you probably shop for souvenirs to give to your loved ones. Why not do the same thing when you are on staycation? Shop for souvenirs for some of those special people in your life and mail them to your friends or family members when your staycation is over.
