Now’s the time to turn your phone off, ignore your emails and leave your tablets at home and spend a romantic week on Martha’s Vineyard. The time you spend with your significant other will be priceless and since it’s only for a weekend you don’t have to worry about missing work or having to pay for a costly trip. Wondering where you should stay and what you should do? Check out our picks for hotels and activities.

Accommodations

Vineyard Square Hotel & Suites
Built in 1911 and first used as a Colonial Inn, the roots of this hotel are apparent. This historical property has modern amenities and a romantic feel. Those who choose to stay in a suite rather than a basic hotel room, will have a private deck so they can enjoy some privacy. No matter what room you choose, you will be able to enjoy luxurious bedding and updated interiors. There’s an on-site restaurant, fitness center and spa so you don’t need to leave the hotel, unless you want to that is!

The Beach Plum Inn & Restaurant And Menemsha Inn
This hotel is a great choice for those looking for something a little more secluded. It’s located near Menemsha Harbor and guests can generally get a good view of the nearby lighthouse. Accommodations include both rooms and suites that have a French-country style. The inn has an onsite restaurant that is fairly pricey, but serves outstanding dishes.

There aren’t a lot of amenities here, but guests are welcome to visit the sister property next door- the Menemsha Inn if they’d like to used a fitness center or play tennis. Rooms here are more rustic than the Beach Plum Inn and many of them have wood-burning fireplaces. Guests can also utilize chairs, towels and umbrellas for the beach.

What To Do

Take in a sunrise or sunset at Menemsha Beach. Nothing screams romance like taking in a sunrise or sunset with your honey. Menemsha Beach offers plenty of places to plop down on the sand and just enjoy the day. Another added perk is that the waves tend to not be as rough so you can easily take a swim without exerting yourself.

Go on a biplane ride. Imagine hopping into a vintage airplane and soaring high above Martha’s Vineyard. These biplanes take off and land on grass runways which is just one thing that makes this romantic experience truly memorable. For the most part, the ride is fairly smooth unless you want your pilot to make it more intense by adding some dives and loops.

Have a romantic meal. There is no shortage of romantic restaurants on and around Martha’s Vineyard. L’etoile features an impressive French- influenced menu designed by chef Michael Brisson. Chesca’s is the place to go for those looking to enjoy Italian cuisine at quaint tables on a porch. For those that are looking to grab something to eat, to-go so that they can have a picnic on the beach or enjoy an intimate meal in their hotel room, Larsen’s Fish market offers lobster dinners. No matter where you go to eat on Martha’s Vineyard you’ll be able to enjoy local produce and fresh seafood.

One of the most beautiful times to visit Martha’s Vineyard is during the fall to see the changing of the leaves.  Check out a fall foliage tour of cruise vacation for a great way to spend time at Martha’s Vineyard as well as other areas of Canada & New England.
