Los Angeles just got a rather big addition to their cruise port. The Norwegian Bliss recently started sailing out of this city after it spent the summer in Seattle. Itineraries
Passengers can choose from either 7-night or 8-night itineraries. After departing from Los Angeles, the ship will make its way to the Mexican Riviera. As detailed in each itinerary, the ship will stop at Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. These itineraries will be offered through the beginning of November. The Bliss will then go on two-week voyages that will take passengers through the Panama Canal and to Miami; stops for this itinerary will include Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
What’s On Board
Passengers will be greatly impressed with this ship. They will feel as if they are at a resort rather than being on a cruise ship. They can enjoy all sorts of different amusements such as an electric go-karts racing course that’s two decks high! This is the first of its kind on any North American-based ship. There’s also a huge water park that features multi-story waterslides. Passengers can watch a variety of shows at the Bliss Theater like the Jersey Boys or Havana. For those that are interested in educational opportunities, there are classes available each day such as camera seminars, language lessons, and balloon twisting classes. Passengers also have a wide variety of dining options to choose from: there is a boardwalk that features different restaurants such as Q, barbeque fare, and live musical performances by country stars.
The Bliss is practically brand new as it’s only been sailing for a little over 5 months. Some quick stats about the ship are that it can hold up to 4,004 passengers, it weighs 168,028 tons and is Norwegian’s largest ship. It’s also among the top 10 largest cruise ships in the world. The Norwegian Bliss is the third ship in the cruise line’s Breakaway Plus series, with the previous two ships in the series being the 167,723-ton Norwegian Joy and the 165,157-ton Norwegian Escape. These ships are bigger than any of the ships that are operated by rival cruise lines like Celebrity or Carnival Cruises. However, the Symphony of the Seas, owned by Royal Caribbean is larger and measures at 228,081 tons.
