Tall Travelers Rejoice! These Flying Hacks Are Just For You

If you are on the rather tall side, you know just how uncomfortable flying can be. Planes just aren’t made for those that are tall, which can make for a rather miserable flying experience. If you find yourself in this situation, try out some of thee flying hacks listed below so that you can be more comfortable when you are traveling by plane.

Exit Row Seats
Seats in the exit row tend to have more room which makes them a great choice for those that are tall. When reserving a seat, make sure you get one that’s in the exit row if at all possible. These seats don’t always cost more money and they can allow you for the extra leg room that you need. Some airlines don’t offer exit row seats until the day of the actual flight. If you weren’t able to score an exit row seat when you book your ticket, ask the agent at the airline’s counter if there are any more of these seats available. If you simply can’t get an exit row seat, go for one that’s on the aisle. You will have a little more room and won’t have to deal with trying to squeeze in between other passengers to get into a window or middle seat.

Consider paying for comfort or economy plus. A few inches may not sound like a lot, but it can make a world of different, particularly on a long flight.

Check Out The Layout Of The Plane
Before you even set foot on the plane, it’s a good idea to get familiar with the layout. Sites like SeatGuru will allow you to see a detailed layout of the plane that you will be flying on. This will help you determine which seats have extra legroom and which seats don’t. You can also get an idea as to how close together the seats are to one another. You might find that it’s worth it to splurge on a better seat so that you will be comfortable during your flight.

Lift the Arm Rest on Your Aisle Seat
Most aircraft have a button below the armrest of the aisle seat, allowing for more room for you to stretch out. Do however watch for the carts going up and down the aisle.

Pack A Lumbar Support Pillow
No matter where you sit on a plane, you may get uncomfortable during your flight. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of room to stretch out so you will need to figure out other ways to stay comfortable. A lumbar support pillow can help make a long flight more bearable. There are inflatable versions so you can easily pack it in your carry-on and blow it up when you are onboard the plane if needed.
