Popular Movies Coming Out in 2020

With Apple TV+ & Disney+ just being released, and HBO Max coming in May of 2020, the movies have seen a bit of a drop in attendance, but there are lots of sequels, reboots & new movies hitting the big screen in 2020 that we feel will get people out of the house.

Here is our list of most anticipated movies coming in 2020. As a side note, we did not include any horror films on this list & there are plenty in that genre coming out in 2020 including The Conjuring, The Purge, Antlers & Brahms: The Boy II.

  • Bad Boys for Life – January 17, 2020
    Will Smith & Martin Lawrence are back along with Vanessa Hudgens,
    Alexander Ludwig & Charles Melton.
  • Dolittle – January 17, 2020
    Iron Man may be gone, but Robert Downey Junior has always put everything into his roles & this remake on the popular Eddie Murphy movie is sure to be a family favorite.
  • Gretel & Hansel – January 31, 2020
    A brother and sister travel into the woods and encounter a witch. It’s a dark and twisted take on the folklorish tale.
  • Bloodshot – February 21st, 2020
    Starring Vin Diesel, comic book fans will enjoy this story about a resurrected scientists who now has superpowers & is out to avenge his own murder.
  • Mulan – March 27, 2020
    Following in the footsteps of Aladdin & Lion King, this is a live-action version of the popular Disney film Mulan.
  • The New Mutants – April 3, 2020
    A spin off from X-men, this movie is about a crew of young mutants that are being held against their will. Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Saga, and Blu Hunt play the lead rolls.
  • No Time Left to Die – April 8, 2020
    Through the years, fans always seem to flock to any James Bond movie. We don’t anticipate this will disappoint. Staring Daniel Craig for the last time as Bond & Rami Malek as the villain.
  • Trolls World Tour – April 17, 2020
    Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch (Justin Timberlake) travel to other lands and join forces with fellow Trolls in order to defeat a controlling queen (Rachel Bloom) who wants to destroy all other musical genres except for her own. We can’t wait for the soundtrack!
  • Black Widow – May 1, 2020
    An avengers spin-off, Romanoff will face her dark past, which we have seen glimpses of in previous Avenger films. There is no mention of any other avengers star making an appearance. Stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour & Florence Pugh.
  • Legally Blonde 3 – May 8, 2020
    We’ll reserve judgement on this one as part 2 was not nearly as popular as the first film, but Reese Witherspoon is back in pink as Elle Woods.
  • Fast & Furious 9 – May 22, 2020
    The latest installment of the blockbuster series sees franchise regulars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson joined by John Cena and Cardi B.
  • Wonder Woman 1984 – June 5, 2020
    DC has struggled to compete with Marvel movies over the years, but the first Wonder Women movie did quite well. This movie will put her in the 80’s fighting 2 new rivals – Maxwell Lord & Cheetah.
  • In the Heights – June 26, 2020
    This film adaptation of the Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegria Hudes extremely popular Broadway musical, centers on the characters living in a largely Hispanic-American neighborhood in New York City’s Washington Heights. Here’s to hoping the movie is as good as the Broadway version!
  • Top Gun: Maverick – June 26, 2020
    Tom Cruise is back as Captain Pete a/k/a Maverick.
  • Ghostbusters: Afterlife – July 10, 2020
    A single mother and her children discover their inherent connection to the original Ghostbusters. Billy Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver return. Paul Rudd joins the cast.
  • Tenet – July 17, 2020
    In the highly-anticipated project from The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Inception writer/director, Christopher Nolan, John David Washington plays a man who attempts to prevent World War III.
  • The Kingsmen – September 18, 2020
    Another movie where I feel like the first one was better than the sequel, let’s see what happens with the 3rd.
  • Godzilla vs. Kong – November 20, 2020
    Not my type of movie, but I must admit to see these two go head to head might be interesting. Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, and Rebecca Hall star.
  • West Side Story – December 18, 2020
    Director Steven Spielberg brings to life a retelling of the classic musical, set in 1950s New York City. The story follows two teenagers, Tony (Ansel Elgort) and Maria (Rachel Zegler), who fall in love, despite belonging to rival gangs.
