Holland America Future Cruise Credits And The New Book With Confidence Policy

With travel restrictions continuing for the near future due to global health concerns, Holland America continues to prepare and develop its plans to meet the Framework for Conditional Sailing Order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). They have decided to extend its pause of cruise operations for all departures through June 30, 2021. This includes Alaska, Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coast, Caribbean, Mediterranean and Canada/New England departures. Holland America also will cancel all Alaska cruises through mid-May, Alaska departures on three ships through early June, any Land+Sea Journeys connected with canceled Alaska sailings, Mediterranean cruises through early June and Zaandam’s Canada/New England itineraries through August.

Alaska: Eurodam and Oosterdam through the end of June (roundtrip from Seattle); All 2021 Alaska Cruises from Vancouver, B.C. have been canceled for 2021
Mediterranean: Volendam cruises through early June (between Venice and Civitavecchia [Rome], Italy); Westerdam though early June (roundtrip from Venice or between Venice and Piraeus [Athens], Greece).
Canada/New England: All Zaandam cruises through August (between Boston, Massachusetts, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada).

As they look toward resuming operations, Holland America is focusing on implementing new operational protocols that will roll out across the fleet as travel and commerce continue to recover.

Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding Holland America future cruise credits.

How much is the Holland America future cruise credit?

As compensation for the change to your travel plans, Holland America is offering bonus Future Cruise Credits, which will provide a tremendous value for your next cruise vacation.

  • For reservation that were under deposit only: You will get double the amount that you paid for your deposit (up to the base cruise fare amount) as a Future Cruise Credit. For example, if you paid a $200 per person deposit, each person will receive a Future Cruise Credit $200 plus a bonus FCC of $200 for a total of $400 each.
  • If your reservation was paid in full: You will receive a future cruise credit for 125% of the base cruise fare paid.

In either case, non-cruise fare purchases from Holland America Line can be transferred to a new booking, or will be refunded to the method of payment used for the original purchase.

Guests who prefer a 100% refund of monies paid to Holland America Line can visit the Cancellation Preferences Form to indicate their preference no later than Feb. 15, 2021.

How will I receive my future cruise credits?

For guests’ convenience, FCCs are built in direct association with your Holland America Mariner Numbers, so it will automatically be credited toward you next reservation.

How long do you have to redeem your future cruise credits?

The future cruise credits are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and may be used to book sailings departing through December 31, 2022. This offer cannot be transferred or used as a deposit.

Can I use my future cruise credit as a deposit for my next trip?

Yes! These credits may be used toward the deposit of a new booking. Keep in mind that these credits are for the base cruise fare. FCCs may not be used for onboard expenses, pre- and post-cruise packages, shore excursions, taxes, fees and port expenses, Cancellation Protection Plans, FlightEase air, Hotel Service Charges, or other optional programs or services. OBCs cannot be used to pre-purchase services or amenities and may be used toward all onboard purchases but cannot be redeemed for cash or used in the Casino.

What if my next trip is less than the value of my FCC?

Any future cruise credit funds no used will stay in your Mariner account. If you have a portion of FCC credits available within 12 months of its issuance, you can choose to receive a refund of the original amount retained by Holland America Line at the time FCC was issued between June 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022, less any bonus credit that was given.

What is Holland America’s Book with Confidence program?

Holland America Line values your well-being and appreciates your loyalty. To give you peace of mind and keep you confident in the transformative power of travel, they are offering new short-term cancellation policies for cruise bookings that sail through December 31, 2021.

You can cancel your cruise for any reason up to 30 days prior to sailing and receive a Future Cruise Credit in the amount you have paid to Holland America Line. Some restrictions apply. You can use the Future Cruise Credit when you’re ready to book your next cruise vacation.

Does Holland America offer Cancel for Any Reason insurance still?

Yes! Holland America offers both a standard and platinum insurance plan that allows you to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours before departure. With the standard plan you get a refund of up to 80% of your total cruise vacation and with the platinum plan you receive up to 90%.
