Let’s face it. This has been a difficult year. Having a big Thanksgiving dinner is a luxury many cannot afford. A 20 pound turkey can cost around $25.00, and that’s just the beginning of the expenses. We thought we’d share some ways that you might be able to get a free turkey this Thanksgiving. Now, of course, many of these free offers come with a catch like having to spend a certain amount, so plan ahead. For example, there is an offer where you buy a ham and get a turkey free. In that case, you can freeze the ham for Xmas or another time and use the turkey for Thanksgiving. Don’t get caught up on offers that require you to purchase things you won’t use or your family doesn’t eat.

Stores Where You Can Get A Free Thanksgiving Turkey

  • Ibotta, Campbell’s, Butterball and Coca-Cola have all teamed up with Walmart to roll out the 100% cash-back offer for a FREE Thanksgiving Meal, which is available at Walmart while supplies last. The full Thanksgiving dinner includes: Butterball Turkey Breast Roast; Campbell’s condensed cream of mushroom soup; McCormick turkey gravy seasoning packet; Great Value stuffing mix; Great Value frozen green beans; Great Value cranberry sauce; Idahoan instant mashed potatoes; French’s crispy onions and a 2-liter Coke.

So you have to buy all of the items you are interested in and then download the Ibotta app or visit the Ibotta website and scan your Walmart receipt to earn 100% cash back. Offer is good through November 25th but only while supplies last.

  • If you have ShopRite points, you can exchange them for a FREE turkey, ham, kosher chicken, lasagna or Tofurky. If you are not a member you can sign up for the Price Plus club for free. The cavieat is you must spend $400 between October 18th and November 26th to qualify.
  • Winco is offering a free turkey with a $100 purchase through Thanksgiving. This is a Grade A frozen turkey (excludes premium, fresh, and Butterball). There is a limit of 1 per family.
  • Hy-Vee’s offer is you purchase a Hormel Cure 81 whole boneless ham and get a free 10 to 14 pounds frozen Honeysuckle turkey.
  • At Weis you can redeem 100 reward points and pay just .49 per pound for a turkey or redeem 400 points and you quality for a free turkey. You also have a choice of a Tofurkey or Crav’n Meat Lasagna.
  • At Fareway, but $50 worth of meat and get up to a 14 pound turkey.
  • Spend $150 at Kroger Fred Meyer and get a FREE turkey. If you don’t want to spend that much, you can also get a rebate through Ibotta for a Butterball turkey. Check with you local store for details as promotions do vary.
  • Earn 400 points between Oct 16th and November 26th, and you can redeem them for a free turkey certificate at Foodtown.
  • At Safeway you can earn a free Honeysuckle turkey up to 16 lb. when you load the Just for U Digital Coupon to your account and spend $100 in one transaction. 

Of course food banks, Meals on Wheels and many of your local non-profit & religious organizations normally provide ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal.
