Popular Biker Trails In The U.S.

Summer is a great time for bikers to hit the roads on their motorcycles. The United States has a lot of great trails to explore. Looking for a new place to take your bike? Check out these trails below.

Needles Highway, Blacks Hills In South Dakota
This trail is quite popular for bikers, especially in August when they are headed to Sturgis. As fun as it is to race around on your motorcycle, many riders go quite slow along the way to check out everything that is around them. You’ll go through tunnels with granite walls and can see bison and antelope along the side of the road.

Maggie Valley In North Carolina
What makes this trail so great is the gorgeous surroundings. It doesn’t get more beautiful than this area. This road is just plain fun to ride and often filled with bikers so you are in good company. While it may be fun to race through here, don’t forget to slow down and stop to see the exquisite trees and water nearby.

Tail Of The Dragon, Deal’s Gap In North Carolina
This trail claims to be the number one road for motorcyclists. While we aren’t sure if that’s true, it’s definitely hard to beat with 318 curves in just 11 miles. Not only is it a fun trail to ride you can see the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along the way. Another interesting attraction is the “Tree of Shame”. This monument features bike parts that have been nailed to the tree or thrown up in the branches by those that have wrecked their bike at some point on this trail.

Route 50, The George Washington Highway In West Virginia
If you are somewhat of an adventurous biker, then you will love this trail. It’s full of a lot of twists and turns and of course some amazing scenery. There’s mountains, rivers and even the Monongahela National Forest. You’ll even pass by the Cathedral State Park which makes for a great place to stop at and explore.

Tunnel Of Trees Road In Michigan
This trail is filled with, you guessed it, trees. This dense forest road is only around 35 miles from Mackinac Island and located on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. This is a great trail to ride in September to see some of the beautiful fall foliage in the area. You will feel as if you are riding through a colorful forest.

Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia
We have blogged about Blue Ridge Parkway in the past, listed it as one America’s most scenic drives, particularly during the changing of the leaves in the fall.  Bikers can enjoy incredible mountain views of the Smokey Mountains.  Speed limit is 45 mph so it’s a good route for taking in the scenery.
