Diving is an exciting sport. Not only can you see brightly colored coral reefs with a vast array of marine life inhabiting them, but you can discover what it’s like to explore a new underwater world. No two diving spots are alike and each offer a thrill all of their own. Here are some of the most exciting places to dive in the world.

The Red Sea, Egypt
This is one of the world’s best places to dive. With it’s warm, clear waters and hundreds of miles of coral reef, it’s a great place to dive even for novices. Because of water temperature, it’s generally a good place to dive year round. After diving in the Red Sea there are plenty of other things to do in Egypt including touring Saint Catherine’s Monastery or climbing Mount Sinai.

The Great Blue Hole, Belize
This diving spot lives up to its name. It’s a giant sinkhole that’s filled with deep blue water. The hole formed thousands of years ago when a limestone cave system collapsed. It’s a perfectly safe place to dive and one of the top places to explore the sea life down below. Divers can see neon gobies, angle fish, groupers, and a variety of plant life. It’s also not uncommon to see a shark looking for a fish to munch on.

Turks And Caicos Islands, The Caribbean
Since the 70’s divers have flocked to this area to jump into the calm water and explore. A lot of these islands are uninhabited which makes them a great place to get away from the active Caribbean. One of the most attractive things about diving here are the drops that go hundreds of feet down. There are also a lot of reefs that are pretty shallow and can be easily explored near the shore. While out in the waters, divers may be able to spot some humpback whales that are pretty active during the months of December and March.

The Great Barrier Reef, Australia
This is one of the most popular places to dive and is the world’s largest system of coral reef. At almost 1,865 miles long, it is massive in size and makes for an excellent place to dive. In addition to the reef there are dolphins, whales and sea turtles in abundance.

The Similan Islands, Thailand
This is one of the best places to dive in Thailand. It consists of 9 islands and two different places to explore. Diving spots on the east have coral reefs with gentle slopes. Spots on the west side have both soft and hard corals as well as huge granite boulders. Divers can see a variety of sea life including cow tail rays and trigger fish.

Diving can be exciting for virtually anyone. With so many great places to dive around the world, there really is no reason not to get out and explore the waters and what lurks down below.
