Things To Do In Zion National Park

1462

Situated on over 200 square miles in southwestern Utah, Zion National Park is a beautiful park named after its centerpiece, Zion Canyon.  The park consists of Navajo Sandstone canyons, cliffs, mountains, rivers, arches, and other natural formations, making Zion National Park full of great things to see and do.  From the Narrows to the Court of the Patriarchs, these are the top things to do when taking a Zion National Park tour in 2021

Angels Landing
For experienced climbers, hiking the Angels Landing trail is one of the best things to do in Zion National Park.  The Angels Landing trail is about 2.5 miles and consists of steep uphill climbing, but the reward of spectacular views of the park is well worth the risk.

Riverside Walk
Another must at Zion National Park is the Riverside Walk near the Virgin River.  The paved trail starts at the final shuttle stop, the Temple of Sinawava, and meanders along the river with views of the hanging gardens and weeping walls.  The Riverside Walk trail is about 2 miles and is family-friendly and wheelchair accessible.

The Narrows
The Riverside Walk ends where the canyon narrows and the Virgin River flowing through the steep canyon walls, called the Narrows.  The Narrows is one of Zion’s most popular hikes, and much of it is navigated by wading through the river.  The Narrows is a rugged 10-mile roundtrip hike and the best time to go is the late spring and summer when the river is at its lowest levels.  You’ll want to wear wading boots which can be rented at the Visitors Center and seal your valuables in a waterproof bag.

Canyon Overlook Trail
Another easy and accessible thing to do in Zion National Park is the Canyon Overlook Trail, which can be accessed from a pull-off area along the beautiful Zion-Mount Carmel Scenic Highway.  The overlook is roughly a 1-mile hike roundtrip, with amazing views of Zion Canyon.

The Court of the Patriarchs
A quick and easy hike takes you to the viewpoint of the three sandstone mountain formations along the west side of Zion Canyon, known as the Court of the Patriarchs.  The Three Patriarchs are named after the biblical figures, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and this viewpoint is a must-see in Zion National Park.

Watchman Trail
Another popular thing to do in Zion National Park is the 3-mile roundtrip hike along Watchman Trail.  The Watchman Trail is a moderate hike that ascends nearly 400 feet, with breathtaking views of the towering 6,000 foot tall Watchman Spire and the valley below.

The West Temple
The West Temple is the tallest summit in the main part of Zion National Park and offers some of the best views in the park.  Experienced climbers can make the 6.6-mile trip ascending nearly 4,000 feet of elevation to the West Temple summit.
