For the ultimate water slide, don’t head to your local theme park, just go outdoors! That’s right, there are natural waterslides, also called rock slides, around the world that can only be found outside. Here are some of the top ones around the world.

The World’s Best Natural Waterslides

Damajaqua Cascades in The Dominican Republic

This rock slide is fairly dangerous, but worth the trek as you can actually see 27 different waterfalls along the path to it. You will have to hike about 25 minutes to get to it, and it’s recommended that travelers wear a life jacket and helmet when coming to this area. This attraction is so popular that they actually charge admission, which varies depending on which falls you plan on seeing.

Meadow Run in Pennsylvania

Located in Ohiopyle State Park, this natural waterslide is huge! It features long slides that twist and drop through bedrock before you end up in one of the shallow pools of the Youghiogheny River. The slide is about 200 feet but doesn’t feel that long, as riders tend to go down it very quickly, especially after heavy rainfall.

Rere Rockslides in New Zealand

Located around 30 minutes from Gisborne, this rock slide is located on the Wharekopae River. It’s a fairly smooth ride and you can utilize a boogie board, raft, or inner tube if you like. There is a good chance that you will fall off, though, as it’s not totally calm. This rock slide is fairly wide as well so you can be joined by friends on your trip down. Once finished with your slide, you may also walk over to the Eastwoodhill Arboretum.

Waitavala Waterside in Fiji

Located on Taveuni Island, this 50-meter rock slide is intense. It is fast with a lot of twists and turns. Many people report getting bruised along the way down but say it’s worth it as it cuts through an actual rainforest while giving them the thrill of a lifetime. The rock slide is easily accessible if you stay at the Garden Island Resort since it’s within walking distance of it.

Alder Creek Water Slides in California

Located about an hour from Kernville, this water slide is easily accessible with parking nearby. It has a huge oasis at the bottom of it and many people go running down the rocks and jump in. Afterward, it is popular for travelers to check out the giant trees in the local Sequoia forest.
