United Airlines, Clorox and the Cleveland Clinic are working together to make sanitizing easier at airports. The initiative is called United CleanPlus will include Clorox products being used to sanitize airline terminals, passenger boarding areas, lounges & airplanes to combat covonavirus threat and make travel safer. Products will also be available for purchase at the airport.
United is making additional changes including the following:
- Introducing touchless kiosks which will allow customers to print luggage tags using their phone to scan a QR code.
- Installing sneeze guards at check-in counters in airport lobbies.
- Actively promoting social distancing with enhanced signage, including a 6 ft. rule at the ticket counters which allows for minimal contact between agents and customers.
- Allow fewer passengers to board at a time.
- Travelers will be asked to scan their own boarding pass at the gate.
- Starting in June, each plan will have enhanced sanitation including electrostatic spraying before each flight.
- Supplying individually wrapped hand sanitizer wipes to customers as they board.
- For flights longer than 2 hours and 20 minutes, a snack pack will be provided that includes a Clorox wipe, a bottle of water, bag of pretzels and a cookie. Hopefully they will also implement something for those passenger that are gluten free or have other dietary needs.
- Passengers will be advised if flights will be over 70%, and will have the option to change their flight if the flight exceeds this 70% capacity.
