I first saw the Destiny when she was introduced in 1996 and found it to be the first “classy” Carnival ship.
The colors and décor were not the usual turquoise/orange or purple psychedelic party tones. I liked the ship very much. Well, now it’s 2009 and the Destiny had a multi-million dollar make over. The Carnival Destiny was refitted with more balcony cabins and all new upholstery, carpets, soft goods and she is gorgeous. From the elegant two tiered dining room to the fabulous showroom to the bars the look is sleek and new. They kept the ambiance in the Apollo piano bar and my favorite, the Downbeat. The only detail I could remember from the inaugural was a giant tuba and it’s still there. The Downbeat is a small nightclub with dance floor and only one of many venues to enjoy. There is also Carnival’s new addition, the complimentary sushi bar and a gourmet coffee/pastry shop on the Promenade.
Destiny will be the newest addition to the 4 and 5 day cruise market from Miami. It goes to the Eastern and Western Caribbean and I can highly recommend it.
