Impact travel is one of the up and coming travel experiences that many cruise lines are offering passengers. The Carnival Corporation is adding yet another one of these types of voyages to their growing cruise line. They will be introducing “fathom” in 2016. The purpose of this new type of cruise that they will be offering is to allow travelers an opportunity to impact their destination in a positive way by volunteering.

Voyages

This will be the 10th brand added to the Carnival Corporation. Starting in the spring of 2016 passengers will be able to go on a round trip cruise from Miami to the Dominican Republic or Cuba on the Adonia.

Cuba~ While in Cuba, passengers will have a one of a kind cultural immersion experience. They will get to visit a country that has not allowed cruise ships in over 50 years. Travelers will take part in programs that will allow them to get to know the Cuban communities and take part in service opportunities that will help out the country at large.

The Dominican Republic~ While in this country, travelers will take part in similar activities like they will in Cuba. They will work with the locals to improve the community as a whole by participating in various projects. They will be able to take part in a variety of social impact activities during their three days on shore. Activities may include teaching at a school or building a home for those in need. All of these activities are included in the trip’s price.

About The Ship

The Adonia is rather small in size, as compared to other cruise ships, and can hold less than 800 passengers. Currently it has 355 cabins with six different categories for passengers to choose from. While onboard passengers can enjoy various forms of entertainment, including shows and musical performances. They will also be able to take part in a variety of activities that will help prepare them for what they will be doing on land once they arrive in either the Dominican Republic or Cuba. These activities include taking a language course or learning about the culture in the destination that they are going too.

The ships first departure is set for April 10, 2016 for the Dominican Republic and May 1, 2016 for Cuba. This hands-on type of travel experience is perfect for those travelers that want to go on vacation, but give back to the communities that they are visiting as well. Reservations are currently being taking for both destinations.
