Celebrity Edge is a ship designed to transform expectations, and in Sleek Celebrity style, Celebrity Cruise Line’s Michelle Homoki, Sales Director, and Gabriel Rodriquez, District Sales Manager, went all out at Seasons 52 last night, introducing their new EDGE Style Ship to a select number of agencies!! Unlike any other ship in the history of cruising, EDGE is the first ship literally built from the inside out. Although EDGE’s outer shell was built in a shipyard like all other ships, the inner workings, interior design, and technology were all built in Miami inside Celebrity’s “Innovation Lab”, which is comprised of 3D Technology never used before on cruise lines, which makes Celebrity the first and only cruise line to utilize it. The development of Celebrity’s Innovation Lab makes it incredibly convenient for company executives such as Lisa Lutoff-Perlo (Company President) and Richard D. Fain (Chairman and Chief Executive Officer) to see what is going on without having to fly to and from the shipyard in France.
CELEBRITY EDGE A Ship Designed To Transform Expectations
With regards to EDGE’s style, Celebrity sought out three of the Biggest Names in Design in order to bring to life Celebrity’s vision of EDGE… Designers by the way who have no experience whatsoever in the cruise industry, and this was Celebrity’s brilliant plan from the start! Think about it for a moment, a Celebrity bringing in three major designers at the top of their game in their respective fields would bring in a fresh new perspective to ship design! It would take EDGE’s design from the traditional Celebrity look to a whole new level of design never seen before in the cruise line industry… Meet The Design Team:
The most impacted areas of the ship in terms of design would have to be ACCOMMODATIONS and OPEN AREAS; by far, based on the information shared last night, these areas are the most transformed areas as compared to (dare I say ANY SHIP) period. For these areas, both Tom Wright and Kelly Hoppen were commissioned to transform the accommodations (Kelly Hoppen) and open areas (Tom Wright). The results were astounding!
