Azamara’s Onward is ready to deliver cultural deep dives. A new concept called Atlas Bar is in the space that serves as the library on its sister ships. Otherwise, the Onward feels much like its sister vessels with the classic restaurants and spaces. The library space on the other ships was often used for cocktails and business meetings, but the Atlas Bar has morphed into a trendy space with bartenders serving artisanal drinks. As an example, bartenders can add a smoky aroma to drinks with the help of a domed smoker. The bar also serves small bites, making it a convenient pre or post-dinner spot.
Celebrity Beyond inches over her sister ships, the Edge and the Apex, with 350 more passengers and similar space per passenger. It feels roomier with tons of natural light and wide-open outdoor areas. A noticeable expansion is the larger Grand Plaza, where the Martini Bar is. Most bars and restaurants are across decks 3, 4, and 5 to give the atrium energy of a bustling European piazza. Bartenders dance atop the bar while juggling and pouring half a dozen martinis at once, blindfolded. The Resort Deck located on Deck 14 has the longest lap pool at sea, and the Rooftop Garden is 20% larger. Two cantilevered pools are a first for Edge Class ships.
America Queen Voyages new expedition ship, the Ocean Victory, has nothing but praise from the travel industry. It’s a combination of expedition and high-end luxury, but not for guests who want to dress up and bring out the jewels. It’s casual luxury appealing to any age group with the feel and amenities of a contemporary boutique hotel. There’s also a small spa, fitness center, infinity pool and two outdoor hot tubs.
