Before you know it, Christmas will be here. Pretty soon it will be time to start thinking about doing some shopping and getting into the Christmas spirit. The American Queen Steamboat Company is trying to help people do just that by offering Christmas cruises in the USA. They recently announced their plans to bring Christmas cruises to the south. Here’s what we know so far about their plans.

Destinations

Travelers will go down the Mississippi River on the America Queen. They will stop in several towns, including Greenville Mississippi. While in these towns they will get to visit Christmas markets that feature various vendors that sell seasonal items and handmade craft items. Passengers will also get to experience holiday entertainment with things like caroling in St. Francisville, Louisiana and departure serenades in Natchez, Mississippi. There will also be performers onboard ship called the Steamboat Syncopators. They will lead passengers in sing alongs and will sing popular Christmas tunes to get everyone into the holiday spirit. The majority of the activities that will be taking place onboard ship will be centered around Christmas.

Sailings

Each trip will be a week long with departure dates being November 21 and 28 as well as December 5, 12, 19 and 26. Fares start at $2,699 per person. This includes a one night’s hotel stay before the voyage as well as tours on shore at all of the ports. Beer and wine with meals is also included.

Accommodations

The American Queen has 202 staterooms. Each room is decorated in a way that gives of a Victorian feel. There are a variety of cabins available that range from singles that are about 80 square feet, to suites that are around 500 square feet. However, most of the cabins range from about 130 to 230 square feet. Each cabin offers amenities like free bottles of water, flat screen TV’s, safes and WIFI.

While this cruise can seem pricey to some, it’s a great alternative for those that want to experience a Christmas market without having to go overseas. The German Christmas markets are quite popular for travelers, but can be expensive and time consuming when it comes to travel. One of the big perks about the American Queen offering Christmas market cruises is that for those that live in America they do not have to go very far to get to experience the magic behind visiting a Christmas market.
