New Cruise Ships Debuting this Summer

The next few months are looking busy in the World of Cruising, with several ships coming out between now and August, with first-of-its-class vessels, major ship makeovers, and brand-new ships. Oceania Vista – New Ship – New Class

Oceania will debut its first new ship in more than 10 years. The Oceania Vista is the first of the Allura Class. It will hold 1200 passengers and include 12 dining options, eight bars, lounges, and entertainment venues, including the Casino Mixology Bar. The ship will sail a Founders Day Cruise from Rome to Venice on May 13, after a christening voyage on May 6.

Carnival Venezia – a Carnival-Costa partnership

This Costa Cruise ship will be injected with carnival’s signature “fun” and begin sailing the U.S. market in June. The 2019-built ship is being revamped to fit American cruisers and reflect the Carnival experience. The Carnival Venezia will include familiar Carnival Cruise Line staples such as the Carnival waterworks aqua park, Guy’s Burger Joint, and Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, but also includes that Italian culture like an atrium modeled after Venice’s Piazza San Marco. The ship will sail transatlantic from Barcelona on May 29 and then year-round out of New York with a June 15 round trip Bermuda sailing.

Explora I: MSC’s luxe line

The Explora holds 922 passengers and is the first of six Explora Journeys, a luxury cruise line debuting under the MSC Group umbrella. MSC focuses on making its ships more environmentally friendly using hydrogen or liquefied natural gas. The Explora will include 18 food and beverage venues, including the Malt Whisky Bar and butler service available around the clock for all Ocean Residences. In addition, Steinway pianos will self-play in lounges. The ship will make its maiden cruise from England to Trondheim on July 17.

Crystal Serenity: reborn under A & K Travel Group

The Crystal Serenity is undergoing significant renovations. Staterooms are being made larger and offer more space. In addition, the spa and gym are being revamped, and pickleball courts are being added. The Serenity will debut on July 31 with a 12-day voyage from Marseille, France to Lisbon, Portugal.

Silver Nova: a new class for Silversea

The Silver Nova will debut in August as the first of its class. It offers a unique “U”-shaped pool with unobstructed views. A new concept for Silversea is an evening-only venue called The Shelter for pre and post-dinner cocktails. The sip holds 728 guests and will have 10 bars, lounges, and eight restaurants. The ship was built using hybrid power, using liquified natural gas as its primary fuel. The Nova will debut in August, sailing the Mediterranean.
