Hawaii Cruises 2019

Are you wanting to visit Hawaii in 2019? If so then you are in luck as there are several ships sailing to this destination throughout the entire year. A Hawaii cruise is a great way to island hop without having to take numerous flights and packing and unpacking at each island.

NCL Cruises 2019 offers weekly cruises of the Hawaiian islands onboard the Pride of America cruise ship.  You have overnight stays in both Maui and Kauai as well as visits to Oahu & the Big Island of Hawaii allowing plenty of time to explore and enjoy the cascading waterfalls, active volcanos, green, white & black sand beaches, historic sites and unspoiled nature that Hawaii is known for.  NCL runs some great specials including free or reduced airfare, free unlimited beverages, free shore excursion credits, free specialty dining and/or free WiFi.

The 13-year old Pride of America has been well-maintained and offers an attractive platform for seeing Hawaii.  The ship’s decor is a  mix of early American and tropical Hawaiian. The Pride of America was started in 1999 at Ingalls Shipbuilding in  Pascagoula, Mississippi. Because it was intended to sail between U.S. ports without stopping at a foreign port, it had to be built in the United States. A portion of the design reflects this made-in-America history. In the atrium, guests find an unusual obelisk meant to suggest the Washington Monument. The lobby floor features the Great Seal of the United States. Above it sits a red, white and blue skylight, while behind the Guest Services counter runs a long mural of Washington. Pilars are fluted white columns with classical capitals.

The Hawaiian side of the ship’s heritage is reflected in spaces such as Pink’s Champagne Bar, paying homage to Honolulu’s Royal Hawaiian Hotel. On the walls of Pink’s Champagne Bar are prints and posters of vintage Hawaiian hotels, helping to set the mood for the voyage.

There is a lot of wide open space on the top decks of Pride of America with a very broad promenade deck that runs completely around the outside of Deck 6.  A great gathering space for pre-dinner drinks is in the Aloha Cafe on Deck 11.

The Pride of America cruise ship would not be a Norwegian Cruise ship without a selection of alternative restaurants. The American staff can be very helpful and the Hawaiian-born chef at Teppanyaki has more suggestions than can possibly be tried.

What is the best time to take a Hawaii cruise?

Hawaii is warm year round, but has a dry season from April through October and a wet season from November through March. During the dry season the weather tends to be in the 80s in the day and the 90s at night. During the wet season, where they receive about 3-4 inches of rain each month, the daytime temperatures tend to stay in the 70s. If you plan on taking a cruise to Hawaii in 2019, December through March tends to be when it is the busiest. The summer months also bring about crowds as the kids are finished with school and the weather is usually nice. However, if you are looking to save some money, the month of September is a great time to take a cruise to Hawaii. There are fewer crowds and the wet season hasn’t started yet.
