Pizza delivery, blow-dry bars, and more: The Latest Cruise News for November 2018.

Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas
First on deck is the $115 million dollar refurbishment of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Navigator of the Seas cruise ship.  The entire top deck of the Navigator is being redone to add the Perfect Storm waterpark, however, this water park will be unlike any other Royal ship, as it will have the Blaster, Royal Caribbean’s first ever aqua coaster.  One or two guests will get on a raft that will travel more than 800 feet, including a section that hangs over the side of the ship.  The 2nd water slide will be the first headfirst mat racer.  In addition to the pool deck, Royal is adding Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, Jamie’s Italian, El Loco Fresh, and Hooked Seafood as new food options, as well as adding the new Bamboo Room lounge in the Promenade and a two-level bar by the pool called the Lime and Coconut which will offer live music. The ship will also add the first blow dry bar at sea.  If all of these upgrades weren’t enough to get you excited, they are also adding Laser tag and an Escape room.  When the ship is done, it will homeport in Miami. A Special Deliver Aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s Horizon
Carnival Cruise Line started a pizza delivery program on its new ship, the Carnival Horizon.  They also plan on expanding this program to other ships by 2020.  The service works in conjunction with Carnival’s HubApp; you use the app to place your pizza order from Pizzeria del Capitano restaurant and the pizza can then be delivered to your cabin or a number of other venues on the ship.  The app will also estimate how long your order will take with the only slight drawback being the expected $5 delivery fee.   In other news, the Carnival Victory cruise ship will get a $200 million makeover in 2020 and will be renamed the Carnival Radiance.  Highlights will include new dining options and lounges, an enhanced spa, a ropes course, and a waterpark.

The New Enchanted Princess
Princess Cruises’ new ship coming in 2020, the Enchanted Princess, will feature new Sky suites, a redesigned Sanctuary area, and a standalone Salty Dog Gastropub which will show sporting events and feature menu items by chef partner, Ernesto Uchimura. The Sky Princess cruise ship will also offer the new Sky Suites located on the top deck with the largest balconies of any Princess ship, offering a 270-degree panoramic view.

Celebrity Cruises’ New Edge
The Celebrity Edge cruise ship is now complete.  It will set sail on November 6th from France to the new T25 terminal in Port Everglades, Ft. Lauderdale.  Celebrity has 3 more Edge class ships being built which will be ready in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

These photos offer a sneak peek at the new T25 terminal in Port Everglades.  As you can see, there will be an enhanced area for suite guests.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway
The largest ship ever to leave from the Port of New Orleans arrives on Sunday, November 11th.  The Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship will offer cruises on this larger vessel which can carry 3,963 passengers.

Low Water Levels in the Danube and Rhine Rivers
Low water levels continue to affect areas of the Danube and Rhine rivers in Europe.  Many river cruise companies are having to cut the cruises short and have begun to bus guests from one city to another, which, of course, is quite disappointing.  Viking River Cruises and Avalon River Cruises have in some cases been able to combine ships so that guests only take a short bus ride while their luggage is moved from one vessel to another.
