New Carnival Horizon Cruise Ship

Debuting in 2018, the Carnival Horizon is the newest ship to join Carnival’s Vista-class line of cruise ships.  Horizon is Carnival’s most family-friendly ship to date, boasting a bucket list of on-board activities, family-oriented suites, and a variety of dining options and entertainment for all ages.  Carnival Horizon is a modern, high-tech cruise ship (check out the speedy “smart elevators”), and offers something for everyone.  Here are some of Horizon’s features that make it stand out in a sea of other cruise ships.

Activities for Everyone
Carnival Horizon offers exciting activities at sea for the whole family.  Kids and grown ups alike will love the Dr. Suess-themed Water Works attraction with two water slides- “Fun Things” and “Cat in the Hat.”  There is also a Dr. Suess Bookville play area, as well as a Dr. Suess Story Time and Seuss-A-Palooza Parade on the ship’s main promenade.  The Reflections dining room also features a “Green Eggs and Ham” themed breakfast that you won’t want to miss no matter what your age is.

A first for any cruise ship, Carnival Horizon has an aerial bike ride called Sky Ride, where cruisers pedal around a suspended track 150 feet in the air.  There is also mini golf, a suspended rope course, mini-bowling, ping pong, a video game arcade, and an outdoor sporting area, and much, much more!

The Horizon also boasts a two-level shopping area with shops like Victoria’s Secret, Michael Kors, and Rebecca Minkoff.   The Carnival Cloud 9 Spa and Fitness center and the Serenity Retreat are favorites for adults looking to relax.

Exciting Cabin Options
Carnival Horizon cruise ship offers a variety of cabin options, including the Havana staterooms with an exclusive Cuban-themed bar and pool area, and the Cloud 9 Spa cabins that offer exclusive access to the spa facilities and deluxe thermal suite.  The Family Harbor staterooms and suites are perfect for families and allow guests exclusive access to the Family Harbor Lounge, a fun hangout area with games, big screen TVs and snacks, as well as concierge and babysitting services.

An Abundance of Entertainment
There is lots of entertainment aboard the Carnival Horizon, including the first IMAX movie theater at sea, a kids lounge and teen lounge, and a casino.  Horizon features several new live shows including “Celestial Strings,” a blend of classical and pop music; “Soulbound,” a New Orleans-themed show;”Vintage Pop,” which remixes modern songs into classic jazz performances by a 6-piece jazz band; and “Amor Cubano” which features Latin songs mixed with modern music hits.

A Variety of Dining Options
In addition to its two main dining rooms, Horizon has everything from casual eateries to fine dining.  Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has two restaurants on-board.  Guy’s Burger Joint is a mainstay on Carnival’s cruise line, and the new Pig & Anchor Smokehouse features Guy’s signature barbeque dishes.  Tip:  Dishes at Pig & Anchor do have a charge ranging from $2 to $20, but you can get free sample on embarkation day and sea days on the promenade deck outside of the smokehouse.  Seafood Shack is a casual seafood restaurant, and Lido Marketplace is a buffet-style eatery with a variety of options.  You can also get pizza anytime at the 24-hour pizzeria on the ship.

Fahrenheit 555 is the ship’s steakhouse and offers Chef’s Table dining.   Horizon also has a delicious Japanese specialty restaurant called Bonsai Teppanyaki.  There are plenty o bars and lounges onboard the Horizon including the poolside Blue Iguana Tequila Bar, the Red Frog Rum Bar, and Guy Fieri’s Pig and Anchor restaurant also features a brewhouse with signature craft beers and live music.
