In 2017, Avalon Waterways will offer a new “Active Discovery on the Danube” cruise. These cruises will have all-inclusive excursions that promote active explorations. This is a great option for those that want to take in all there is at a new destination, even if they don’t speak the language or are not familiar with the region.
Excursions
Travelers will get to participate in a wide variety of excursions. These include hiking, cycling, jogging and canoeing. The idea behind these types of activities is that participants can really get a chance to see the Danube in a meaningful way. For those that want to balance out being active with learning about the culture at the destination they are visiting, there are some excursions tailored around this as well. Depending on the destination, they may be able to choose from excursions like cooking, language or dance lessons. One excursion may include going on a walking tour and trying out some of their language skills in a coffee shop or restaurant.
Itineraries
There will be a few different itineraries offered. One example is a nine-day cruise that will occur between July and October and will include visiting Budapest and Vienna. In total there will be at least 8 different cruise options to choose from.
New Dining Options
In addition to all of this, guests will be pleased to find healthier dining options onboard. There will be vegan and vegetarian cuisine and a wide variety of different food items available. For guests that are health conscious or have specific dietary requirements, this will be a welcome change as finding healthy food items besides typical salads and fruit can be difficult while on a cruise. Avalon is currently testing recipes on some of their cruise ships to get passenger feedback. Many of the choices will be dependent on the region that passengers are visiting and will feature items that are favorites among the locals. This is just another way that Avalon plans to immerse each passenger into the culture at the destination they are visiting. Before they even reach their destination they can get a taste of what a specific region is like.
