SilverSea Cruises
In 2020, guests can experience the new Silver Moon. Building on the phenomenal success of Silver Muse, Silver Moon will mirror her sister ship and will establish a new era of SilverSea. At 40,700 gross tons and with a capacity to accommodate 596 passengers on board, Silver Moon will maintain the small-ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation which are the hallmarks of the SilverSea experience. Silver Moon 2020 cruises are now open for reservations.

Opening on Silver Moon in August 2020, S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste program,) offers travelers the richest gastronomic experience there is. Curated with Adam Sachs, former editor in chief of Saveur magazine, S.A.L.T. focuses on reflecting your destination through taste, by sourcing authentic ingredients prepared with respect to tradition. From market trips and special dinners in the S.A.L.T. restaurant to cooking demos with local guest chefs in the cooking lab, S.A.L.T. takes travelers further than ever before in destination experiences.

Silver Muse Offers Unique ports
Once of the unique things about SilverSea cruises is not only the level of service luxury, but also they offer unique ports of call often not visited. For example, not many have heard of Romblon Island in the Philippines. The Silver Muse made a stop there while on a culinary cruise through some of the Islands of Southeast Asia, including Bali and Borneo.

Romblon is a very picturesque island with long, white sand beaches and beautiful bays. The stop there was part of the Sea and Land Taste( SALT )program under development  by Silversea. This program provides local, authentic, off-the-beaten path culinary experiences. To experience this program, you must board a fleet of Filipino “tricycles” like an auto rickshaw that features a covered, two-person sidecar welded to a frame attached to a motorcycle. The drive takes you through scenic views of beaches and the road is lined with banana and papaya trees, as well as rice paddies. Continuing on, the journey goes off the highway onto a single bumpy dirt road with chickens flying out of the way. Several miles into the jungle, you stop at a compound of thatch-covered buildings. Finally, it is time to taste the local specialty “sara na uyang.” The key ingredient is the fresh-water river prawn, an inky crawfish that is caught at night. They are tossed into a grinder with fresh coconut, chili peppers, garlic, ginger and shallots and turned into a paste put  on a banana leaf  to cook in a clay pot atop a brazier fired by coconut-husk charcoal. This is as authentic as it gets, a true glimpse of how Filipino food gets prepared from local ingredients at one of the little known Asian cruise spots waiting to be discovered and enjoyed by U.S. cruisers.
