If you want to visit Puerto Rico and stay in the lap of luxury, you can do so at the Ritz-Carlton Reverse on Dorado Beach. Dorado Beach was well known as the place to go for glamorous jet-setters in the 1960s. From the time Laurence Rockefeller opened a RockResorts there in 1958, Dorado Beach was the playground of rich socialites, Hollywood starlets, and presidents like John F. Kennedy. The location is now on track to once again be a popular spot for those who wish to experience the beauty of Puerto Rico while being pampered in elegance and luxury. On December 12th, 2012, Ritz-Carlton opened its second Reserve property in Dorado Beach. Here’s a short overview of what you can expect at the ultra-luxury Puerto Rican resort.
- The Property. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve occupies 1,400 acres of the estate that was owned by Laurence Rockefeller. The beautiful beachfront property contains 100 guest rooms and 14 one-bedroom suites on the property. In addition, the resort includes the 1920s-era Su Casa, an important part of the island’s popularity in the 60s. Ritz-Carlton has restored the former plantation home to its original splendor, and it will now serve as a four-bedroom VIP villa.
- The Amenities. The guest rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Reserve have every amenity imaginable to make life comfortable. Beds with 400 thread-count sheets, a French press and espresso maker, high speed wired and wireless internet, iPod docking stations, and rainforest showers are among the many in-room amenities offered. Even more impressive are the resort amenities: There are two pools on the property, each with a view of the ocean, and dedicated poolside service. Guests have privileges at golf and tennis courts both on and off the property. There is also a fitness center and the Spa Botanico, where guests can get massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, special Spa Botanico rituals, and couples treatments.
- The Dining. The Ritz-Carlton Reserve offers a number of different dining options for guests. Mi Casa offers dishes influenced by America and Spain. Some specials include cured acorn-fed Spanish ham and tomato bread, or oysters with pineapple, coconut and rum. Mi Casa is beachfront and offers breakfast and dinner options. The Encanto Beach Club Bar and Grill offers lunch and dinner. Dine on a Kobe beef burger or mahi-mahi tacos for lunch, or crispy duck breast for dinner. Then there is the Positivo Sand Bar, where you can order a specialty mojito and enjoy a lunch of fried calamari and peppers or a dinner of shrimp ceviche.
A stay at the Ritz-Carlton Reserve at Dorado Beach starts at $1499 per night during the high season. Reservations can be made online on the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Dorado Beach website or through your travel agent.
