Costa Rica Is Open to U.S. Travelers With No COVID Test Required

Costa Rica’s Ministry of Tourism has announced that as of November 1, 2020, U.S. citizens from all 50 U.S. States will be allowed to enter Costa Rica. Visitors arriving to Costa Rica will no longer need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test.  You will need to purchase medical insurance to cover any COVID-19 related medical treatment or extended quarantine lodging while in Costa Rica and complete the Health Pass epidemiological form. 

Costa Rica Travel Covid Requirements

• Complete digital epidemiological form “Health Pass”
• Travel insurance – international or purchased through the Costa Rica National Insurance Institute- that covers medical care, or an unexpected extended hotel stay due to COVID-19.
•Face masks in all indoor areas are mandatory. The only exceptions are at restaurants and all open-air tourism activities

Travel Insurance Requirements

• Valid travel insurance policy during the visit to Costa Rica
• If purchasing international travel insurance, the policy must cover medical expenses in cases of COVID-19 in Costa Rica. Coverage must be for at least $50,000 USD. Visitors will be required to submit insurance information online when completing their heath pass prior to travel.
• If purchasing Costa Rica travel insurance, the policy must cover medical expenses related to COVID-19, including medication, for at least $20,000 USD. The travel insurance policy number must be uploaded online prior to travel.
• Insurance policy must include coverage of $2,000 USD for extended lodging expenses due to the pandemic
• If the visitor has a foreign policy, they must upload a PDF for validation in English or Spanish
