1604

One of the most visited places in the entire world that focuses on beer is The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland. It’s estimated that it receives over 4 million visitors each year. If you are a lover of ale, you should consider taking a tour of this destination and learning how beer is made.

History
Arthur Guinness is considered to be the founding father of beer. He started brewing it in 1759. Little did he know at the time that it would one day bring in millions of dollars each year. The Guinness Storehouse pays tribute to Arthur and gives visitors a look into what it took for him to make this Irish beer and what the process has evolved to today.

Visitor Information
The Guinness Storehouse is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. An adult admission costs $21 U.S. dollars. The tours are self-guided and take about an hour to complete. Maps are available in languages such as English, Spanish and Italian. Reservations are not needed, but they are recommended. In fact, those who do make reservations online will receive 10% off of their admission price. Admission into the actual brewery has not been allowed since 1972 because of safety and health reasons, but visitors will learn a lot about the brewery and beer making process by visiting The Guinness Storehouse.

Attractions
Visitors begin their tour by standing in the atrium that is actually the bottom of a 7 story pint glass. If this glass was actually filled up with beer it would hold more than 14 million pints! Next visitors will visit the different floors of the museum that will show the history of Guinness as well as the step by step process of how beer is made. On the fourth floor visitors can actually learn how to perfectly pour their own pint of beer and will get a certificate to take home. Visitors can also enjoy different foods that have beer in them on the sixth floor. There are also two bars at The Guinness Storehouse. The Gravity Bar is perched at the top and gives visitors a 360 degree view of Dublin. The Connoisseur Bar Experience is tucked away and allows for a more intimate beer tasting experience.
