Spain Is Welcoming Travelers Back

1408

Spain has started to welcome travelers back and they also removed vaccine requirement for U.S. travelers! All travelers from the U.S. may visit Spain regardless of their vaccination status. This applies to U.S. residents who don’t visit any other country/countries prior to arrival in Spain. Travelers will need to obtain a QR code from the Spain Travel Health Portal prior to departure. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises Americans to get fully vaccinated before traveling internationally amid the pandemic.

  • When is the best time to visit central and southern Spain and Portugal? October to May, when the temperatures are mild and you can avoid big crowds of tourists.
  • When is the best time to visit northern Spain and Portugal? April to October, to enjoy sunny days and warm weather as the long winter can be quite cold and rainy in the north.
  • What are the national languages in Spain and Portugal? In Spain, the national languages are Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque, and in Portugal, the national language is Portuguese, although you will find that many people speak at least a basic level of English.

  • What is the schedule like in Spain and Portugal? In Spain, people eat quite late, with lunch hours between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, and dinner between 8:30 PM and 11 PM. In Portugal, the meal hours are more similar to the standard meal hours, with lunch between 12 PM and 2 PM, and dinner between 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM.
  • What should I wear when traveling in Spain and Portugal? Depending on where you are and the season, you will have to dress for the weather, so we recommend checking the forecast before traveling. In general, the Spanish and Portuguese like to look very put together, so big T-shirts and flip flops are not suggested. For tourism during the day, we recommend jeans or slacks, a shirt and comfortable shoes. For most tapas and petiscos restaurants, nice casual wear is fine. For a more formal restaurant, we suggest collared shirts for men and a dress or nice blouse for women. If you plan to entire any churches and have a tank top on, make sure and have a scarf or jacket to put on as they will not let you enter the church without sleeves.
