Things That Switzerland is Known For

Switzerland is a very unique country. Did you know it’s the only country in the world with four national languages? There are also a lot of other things that Switzerland is known for that are great for travelers. You can find out more information about them by checking out the list below.

The Food

There’s a lot of great food to indulge in while you are in Switzerland. Visitors flock to the country just to indulge in Swiss chocolate. It’s very creamy and, with just one bite, you can tell that only quality ingredients were used in the making of it. Be forewarned though, once you have Swiss chocolate, other chocolates might just pale in comparison! Another food this country is known for is cheese. No, I’m not just talking about Emmental cheese with holes in it that we refer to as “Swiss Cheese” in America. The cheese I am referring to is, well, all of it! While in Switzerland, you can find around 450 different types of cheeses. You will discover that you can order practically any dish with some kind of delicious cheese on it in Switzerland. Be sure to try as many types as you can while in the country!

The Natural Beauty

You don’t have to be a nature lover in order to appreciate the natural beauty of Switzerland. Each year, a lot of tourists flock to this country just to see the Alps and to take part in the many winter sports. The Alps make up approximately 65% of Switzerland with the Matterhorn and the Jungfrau serving as particularly famous summits. Also, the lakes in Switzerland are absolutely beautiful; both Lake Geneva and Lake Zurich are popular among tourists.

The Transportation

One of the best things about this country is the train system. There are 46 railway companies that make getting around Switzerland fairly easy. Tourists can go from one destination to another around Switzerland quickly and see a lot of beautiful scenery all at the same time.

The Cities

Certain cities in Switzerland, like Zurich, have an extremely high quality of life. This means that tourists can have a great time while there. They can enjoy nice accommodations and world-class restaurants. For those looking for a great vacation, they can certainly have it in Switzerland.

The Arts

Switzerland is home to many music festivals throughout the year. It doesn’t matter what type of music you are into, you can probably find a festival that you will like. Popular festivals include the Annual Classical Music Festival and the SnowpenAir festival. The Dadaism art movements started in Switzerland as well. Artists expressed their concern about World War I through the items they created. Today, this art can be found throughout Switzerland.
